And so there they were. What else were two old souls in young bodies to do? They eventually fell in love, though they were quiet fortunate that it never interfered with work or vice versa. Two people thrust together into the heart of madness and chaos. She would save the world, he would protect her until she was truly needed to save it. Fate or chance, destiny or coincidence (which Kin didn't believe in anyhow) they were in it together. Funny how things work like that. Like something out of some old story or epic tale.

As she brought herself back from Paris and into the side room, she checked her makeup carefully, and reemerged, taking care not to distract from anything too much.

Phaedra was bored. Oh so very bored, and quite annoyed. That worthless excuse of a host, Hadrian, did nothing but annoy hhim ever since he became a part of him. He even had the gall to tell him to shut up.

Phaedra decided to seek some amusement elsewhere. He scanned his surroundings for a plaything, and spotted the man Hadrian talked to, Sinclair. He seemed to be deep in thought at the moment. He took over Hadrian while he was occupied with the little Fae brat.

'Hey! What the hell do-!'

'Shut up, puppy. This will only take a moment.'

He moved over to Sinclair and lifted him up by his shirt.

'You. I recognize that look in your eyes. I've seen it many times before." He brought him closer, cackling madly. " What asinine plan are you hatching in that insignificant brain of yours, hm? Planning to stick a knife in these fool's backs when they aren't looking, hm? I feel sorry for Baltreth, having to put up with a conniving rat like you. It must be such a bother."

Gonna go to sleep now. Fatigue is kicking at my brain.

Sinclair smiled nastily at the...Illrian, judging from the sudden reversal of tone and speech patterns. Even as his hand hovered over his pistol, and his mind readying for battle and planning, the Black Nail couldn't quite suppress a touch of savage excitement at the prospect of sudden violence.

He's right you know. It is a bother dealing with you sometimes.

'Oh shut up.'

"Oh look, a rabid dog for an Illrian. I, for my part, have only my pity for Mastere Selene, having such a fool for a partner." Sinclair sneered. "Did you not hear the part where Gray over there said that the Knighthood would blow up this world to stop it getting into the Destroyer's hands? I doubt that's an idle threat, and I doubt that the Destroyer has my interests in mind should I join it, though I doubt my more stupid brothers and sisters in the Guild would really think that through. So really, I don't have an interest in joining the Destroyer."

There was a cough as Ana sought their attention. It was a forceful yet controlled tone.
"Lock it down, both of you. I have other assignments and if you two don't play nice you will be separated through your orders. And yes, I would gladly tear this world apart for the sake of accomplishing our goals."

This only caused Phaedra to laugh harder.

"Partner? Who said we were partners? If anything, he's the dog, and I'm his master." He threw Sinclair to the ground, knocking the wind out of him, and planted a foot on his chest, and with every word, he pressed harder, and harder, threatening to crush his ribs. "The same should be considered for the rest of you. Nothing but filthy vermin. We are your betters. We shouldn't have to associate ourselves with the likes of you!"

He stepped off of him smirking. "Oh, and by the way, I've never said anything about joining the Destroyer.You are right, it's only out for itself. Any who join it are merely tools. Expendable, and replaceable. I have no doubts that you see everyone else here the same way."

He looked at the woman with narrowed eyes, before letting out a chuckle.

"Very well."

He turned, as if to leave, before turning abruptly and pushing Sinclair back to the ground. He whispered into his ears.

"I saw the way you were eying that little brat. You better not try anything. The mongrel may not like that. He can get quite riled up if you do anything... undesirable to those that are under his protection."

He got back up and let Hadrian take back control of his his body. He clutched at his head, feeling woozy.

"Damn it, Phaedra..." He groaned.

Phaedra only laughed in response.

I'll be right back. My computer is acting all screwy.

Sinclair coughed violently as the superpowered foot left his all too human ribs, narrowing his eyes at the Illrian, but speaking as nonchalantly as he could to Anastasia. "Hey now, I didn't start it. Master Selene's Illrian was the one who started rocking the boat. Phaedra was it?"

'That one is dangerous. Very dangerous.'

Pheadra has never been the type to play well with mortals. The rest of us have gotten better with dealing with you, but he has always been the type to revel in his unbending ways. And besides, beyond how rude he was, which is normal for him, he's got a point.

'Yes. I said he was dangerous, not that he was wrong.'

You know you're playing a dangerous game aren't you? I could report all of this to Malachim and let him sort you out. Violently if need be.

'True, but you don't strike me as the particularly loyal type, besides it's in my interest for this world to remain intact. The Knighthood's goals and mine coincide for the moment. The salvation of this world from the Destroyer. What would the Knighthood ask of me besides that?'

Friendship? Brotherhood? Not considering killing them when it's no longer useful?

Daft Sikes said:
Sinclair snorted.

"Hey Selene." Sinclair said, coughing a little as his chest still sored "You're Illrian's a *****."

Hadrian rubbed his temples.

"Indeed," He muttered. "He is quite a pa- GNNH!" Another bolt of pain rushed through his head.

'Don't forget who holds the leash, dog.'

"Guh..." He shook his head to clear up his head. He regarded Sinclair with narrowed, appraising eyes. "Anyway... what he said does have some truth to it, doesn't it?"

The Anthem-thing swiveled slightly to regard Kishima, eyes a faint luminous blue through the narrow openings in its mask. Or was it its face?

"We are Anthiel." It left it as that, as nearby a bit of a tussle seemed to be forming.

It regarded the little showdown between Phaedra and Sinclair with faint amusement, or something approximating it.

"Hadrian," the Anthem-thing said, in the rolling, sultry tones of Seleda'an now, though there was no outward manifestation of the demon's presence. Perhaps the Anthem-thing-- Anthiel, whatever it was-- simply chose the voice. "We are amused to say that YOU are perhaps the most unlucky. It seems to think it owns you. That is not how this relationship is meant to work."

At least things will never be quiet around him
Sinclair shrugged, not appearing the least apologetic. "I won't make apologies for looking after myself. I'm here because the Knighthood's goals and mine coincide, and the fact that Silas Grey holds a debt over my head. Beyond that, I have no desire to antagonize any of you. Though your ah, Master more than makes up for the antagonization part. Most Thaumaturgists, had they been insulted as I have, would have taken that opportunity to make a stab at you and get a bloos sample out of you, and we all know how unpleasant that would be for anyone."

"I do agree with ah...Anthiel's belief as well. You are unfortunate aren't you? Though as he said, he's only right. Sort of. The thing about Ms. Anastasia is that I was wondering what we could possibly hope to gain from requesting the Illrian Knighthood of pulling out this man? I am familiar with Subject Sigma's infamy among the darker circles in this world, but still, I question whether the man would be able to create a net gain from sending a portion of the Knighthood into a location that a Thaumaturgist has been protecting for an unknown amount of time. If one of us were to die for example, would our deaths justify Nicholaus Kin's recovery and his service against the Destroyer?"

<font color=green> Well he didn't seem to talkative. Wonder what's wrong with him.

Hey you behave now. There's nothing wrong with him I think. He's just different. What I'm scared of is the thought that Hadrian might not be able to control his Illrian. You would never try to do that would you?

<font color=green> What damage my own host for pleasure? No that's nonsense and I told you we need each other as if you die I die and I.m in no hurry to let that happen.

After his little exchange with his Illrian, Kishima went to check if Hadrian was alright.

"Hadrian was it? Are you alright?" he waited a few seconds checking for any signs of damage. "He seemed like quite an aggressive fellow but at any rate you should perhaps listen to Anthiel. He knows a thing or two about how to work with Illrians. I mean look at how he turned out. No offence big guy. Just remind your Illrian that he needs you just as much as you need him. That's how I got Ferous here under control"

However, while scanning for wounds Kishima did more than that. He looked for weak points and any weakness Hadrian might have in case his Illrian was too powerful to control and needed to be put down. But deep inside him, Kishima hoped that it wouldn't have to come to that.

Before Hadrian could reply, he was once more taken over by Phaedra.

"GGGH-Seleda'an..." Hadrian's groan of pain was replaced with Phaedra's cackling. "...This wretch is far beneath me. I will never follow it's orders, it will follow my orders. If it fails to listen to me, I will burn it into ashes."

An arrogant smirk appeared on his face, as he examined the creature before him.

"I can't believe that you bound yourself to that pathetic freak, He spat. His eyes glowed painfully bright. "You should just writhe around in the dirt and die like the vermin you are."

The glow receded, as he slumped over. He looked up at the emotionless mask that Anthem... Anthiel wore.

"I-I am sorry. Phaedra is proving himself to be quite a nuisance," He bowed his head in apology. "I will deal with him, somehow."

Phaedra guffawed.

'Oh that's rich. You can do nothing to me, mongrel. Unless you were planning on ending your miserable life now.'

<font color=green> Well that went well. Of course I wouldn't have done it quite so threateningly, you know because of the message of world peace between each other but still you did good

I hope so. With that Kishima withdrew back to he corner of the room, getting ready to meditate on the upcoming battle, but his katanas always ready for anything that followed.

Silas stood, stepping over to Hadrian, picking him up and saying with a cool, calm but deadly voice "I made you, Phaedra. I can unmake you. Behave, or I will string your cosmic entrails from here to the Black Gate of Oblivion." and here Malachi's eyes flashed.

Silas dropped Hadrian and siad "Friends, you are gathered to stop the coming apocalypse and defeat the Destroyer. Though a god, the Destroyer can be banished and defeated...and I am counting on you. Nicolaus holds the key to understanding and defeating the Omens, the signs of the coming of the Destroyer as well as marks of his plans. He repeats a pattern, and if we can crack this pattern we can undo it. Now go, make yourselves at home here and prepare to depart. You leave on the morrow, your personal effects have been brought here. You will find them stored in the room there." and here Silas pointed at a side door.

"Dismissed." said Silas but he then said "Sinclair, I want you to stay for a moment please."
Silas walked up to him and put a hand on his shoulder, not menacing but a glint entered his eyes. It bespoke his power, and his seriousness. "I know you do not plan to remain one of us, and that you are driven by personal goals of survival and freedom. Know that if you turn your power against your brothers or any innocents, I will punish you. Be assured that I can see every thought in your mind and I have foreseen every possible outcome of every action you might take. If you deliberately harm our mission or in any way cause the deaths of innocents or, through inaction, allow innocents under your protection to come to harm...I will do more than kill you. I will make sure you suffer in agony without the power to scream or show your pain...I will make you suffer in total silence for two hundred thousand years. You will neither age nor die, but you will suffer..."
Malachi's eyes glowed and he said "Let this be your standing orders; beyond it I have no qualm or care. While you are under the orders of myself and Silas you will complete all missions and in no way hinder completion of any assignment actively. You will protect the lives of innocents and you shall not allow those you are ordered to protect to be harmed through action or inaction. You will allow no innocent to be harmed by inaction either, if you allow the forces of evil to kill unchecked while you have the power to stop it you must act. You will not go against myself or Silas and if you side with the Destroyer I will personally see to it that at least the first five hundred years of your suffering will be spent with your abilities intact so I can hear every scream. You will obey this orders, or you will face a fate worse than death."
Here Silas released him and said "I know you are not one for being on the side of good but when this is over, I will give you one chance to be rid of us. I'll give you two days head start in that case before my Knights descend upon you.

Ryan walked off to find his room, humming a light tune as he went. Gremlin following closely behind him.

When he got there he saw most of his equipment and supplies boxed up (as they were before), his workbench and ammo press were however set up for him already.
And then there was his radio set, he had spent the last month dissassembling and reassembling it trying to build a better radio, last time he had saw it he had completely taken it apart, it was now rebuilt in the way it had been when he had bought it... this frustrated him immensely.

Realizing he had more important things to deal with than being comfortable here, he got to work refitting his gear, making sure it would fit his new form. Then he got to work attaching his modifed geiger counter to the side of his rifle.

Finally when he thought he was done, he slept dreamlessly until the morning.

Six hours later, I'm going to sleep, back in nine or ten

Kishima left the hall. He hurried to find his room as he was tired from the days journey. He found his room almost immediately as they all had the respective people's names on them. The room was of a decent size with a double bed.

Silas had not lied when he said that all of the effects had been bought up. Apart from his smoke bombs, kunai and arrows which he was forced to hand over upon his entry there were also arranged in neat bottles 5 kinds of deadly poisons.

It seems that Silas spared no expense in procuring these beauties as they were the rarest, most exotic poisons which could kill a man even if the poison touched his skin. As he knew that they had to leave early in the morning he coated his katanas and kunais with some of the poison but kept some for later.

Ferous, I meant to ask you something, other than give me these horns and make me taller could you not give me so more useful abilities?

<font color=green> Like what Night Vision, Invisibility? No, I'm afraid these are wait out of your reach to use and not even I could show you how to use them. But aren't you a Thaumaturgist, the person that can instantly kill anyone if they have some of their hair or blood?

You're right still I wouldn't mind being able to turn invisible. Well I guess, good night Ferous.

With that Kishima went to asleep as the day ahead of him would be a dangerous one and he had to be sure that he was at his best and therefore rested. However he still wondered about how useful his mysterious companions will prove out to be.

I'm not going to be updating until tomorrow at around 12 GMT, UK, So please could not skip too far ahead please thanks.

Sinclair digested this information and couldn't help keep himself from smiling, despite the cold pit of dread in his stomach.

'Oh I'm in a pickle now aren't I?'

Yes you are. Now take this seriously Sinclair. Malachi and his host are not to be trifled with.

"Rest assured Mr. Grey, I'm as interested as stopping the Destroyer as you are." Sinclair began. "There is no alternative for me in a world ruled by that thing. I will either be a slave, or a plaything, neither of which is particularly appealing. And as such, you may not fear betrayal from me as long as we agree on that much at least."

He continued onwards, mindful of the dry throat that had just now mysteriously popped up. "Innocents may die in the course of our missions while battling it's servants, and that is an inevitability defeating the kind of evil we face, but I will operate within the limits you have set for me within reason. I will set the achievement of the missions you give me as the absolute priority, and anything that must be sacrificed to achieve that will be done so, unless you explicitly say otherwise, of course."

"Having said that, while they are active, my own personal goals of freedom and survival are not what drives me. It is Power, plain and simple, that drive me. A means to an end, as it were. The accumulation of Power that will insure I remain me is what drives me. Going against you would mean giving up a good deal of my power in escaping you, assuming I don't die at the end of all that, which would mean a slow, painful death. Going with the Destroyer means increased Power over a dead world and that thing waving it's claws all over me, puppet as I am then. As such, the only recourse I can consider with all the information present is to ally with you and the Knighthood. Allow me to accumulate power then, and I will serve as a willing ally to you. Which is to say, after the end of all this, once we won, I would have nothing to gain by killing you and all to gain by staying loyal to you.?

'So you are a spy. Somewhat predictable that, though disappointing.'

Now, now, it's not like I could really do anything about that. Malachi looks through my eyes. Your birth as an Illrian means he owns you. That is something you must accept.

'I'm sure.'

Anastasia sat, cleaning and polishing a small arsenal that would impress even the most seasoned hitmen. Two 1911's, a bolt action rifle, an assortment of knives, a small, single shot grenade launcher, a wrist mounted revolver contraption which added five rounds without the hassle of pulling out a new gun. All this and more, including her prized piece, a one of a kind machine pistol. It had proven an indispensable tool in times of need. She first got it in Somalia. A fae living in the area (probably the only fae in that part of the world) had a not only a knack for tinkering with weapons, but also an admiration for her work.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Somalia, -REDACTED-
Ten years ago:
Dressed in the garb of the local women, Ana walked up to the door of a house in the streets. She gave a polite knock. Not being fluent in the local tongue, she could only roughly guess that the response was the local equivalent of "FUCK OFF". She shook her head, then began to walk around to the back alley, making sure to count the houses. When she arrived at the correct house, she carefully and quietly took a small set of pins out of a pouch and picked the lock, leaving the door slightly ajar.
She came back to the front and knocked again.
"Who the hell is that?" They sounded angry.
She took a few steps to the side and raised her pistol, remembering something one of her overseers taught her a long time ago.
"Any self respecting warlord worth his weight in bullets owns a bullet proof, armored door. The walls around that door on the other hand....."
The machine pistol gave a loud rattle as a spray of bullets went through the wall. Another scream, this time of pain, was heard. She quickly walked around to the back.
"Remember, their teeth will be bared at the front....."
The door slowly slid open. The man inside was on the ground, two bullets in his leg. A shot gun in his hands was trained on the front door. But when he felt the cold steel of the gun barrel to the back of his head, he dropped the gun.
Check and mate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

She set the gun down. She would need more firepower. She would have the mask with her if she absolutely needed it. But at the same time, that risked it getting into the wrong hands. Ever since he had disappeared,Ana had guarded it zealously. The mask had been used so much, it egan to become tuned into magical energies. It amplified Kins power. In fact it amplified anybodies, but only the sturdiest of minds could handle long term use.

She had to be careful though. More than once she had found herself lost in the mask, it seemed to have trance like effects on the idle mind. And it brought back too many memories of Kin for her to think about. She tried to entertain the possibility that he was dead for the sake of being a realist. But she also had another, deeper fear.

The fear that the man she would pull from that pit would not be Nicholaus Kin. That Nicholaus Kins mind would be broken beyond repair, and that all hope for the world would be lost to the belly of the dragon and the madness therein. She didnt give a damn how many clones she had to kill, but this was out of her control. It was a haunting feeling, the idea of powerlessness. Kin said he would leave behind clues, obscure as too keep the information he was hiding from being discovered, but if somebody, say a group of Illrian knights savy enough to think outside the box and perhaps and a girl who knew him better than anyone else put their capabilities together, then the trail of breadcrumbs may yet be traceable. That was all the hope she had to go on.

Rena had watched all of the happenings with Hadrian, his Illrian, and the others around him with interest. She was greatly curious about her friend and his new circumstances, but she knew that she would have to be careful around him as well since his Illrian didn't exactly seem stable. Caution was something that she had learned during her Avenger training and she knew that she had to always be cautious, even among friends.

Once everything seemed to calm down, she went over to Hadrian and said with a smile. "Want to explore the castle with me? I was thinking of checking it out for a little bit before getting some rest. After a good dose of exploring, I'm going to head to my room and get a good bit of sleep."

This, of course, happens after the actions of Silas, and Hadrian's reaction.

Goin' to be busy, busy, busy. I'll reply as often as I can.
