Of course!

Bastian nodded and motioned for people to follow him. "We're wasting daylight."
Reuben looked nervous as Lazlo led him off someplace else.

The room the crime had taken place in was the way it was the night of the stabbing, the Police had cordoned the building off and the Guardians flashed their badges to gain entrance at two tired looking cops. "Lets get to it, team." said Bastian.

Mr. Mercer took Rueben aside. "If you will excuse us, We have a lot of work to do"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Talk to me, what happened exactly?"
"I remember a bridge...."
"A bridge?"
"yes... old grey stone work construction, cobblestone on top."
The bridge stood tall over an river connecting two halves of an old Bavarian town. It was war torn. Buildings collapsed, old shell casings lined the streets. Bits of vehicle strewn across the roads.
"We were told it was prime real estate."
"How prime?"
"'Only' prime."
Two tanks rolled across the bridge, several infantrymen on the flanks.
"We wanted to plug it. Command said terminate, but something just didnt sit right with blowing it. We were........... stubborn."
"So you stayed?"
"Yes, against orders."
"Haha...yea, I can relate to that mentality."
"So this is where it all went down huh?"
"Yeah."
"Then we start work here. But this isnt where we begin..."
"What doe you mean?"
"What I mean is, that in order to truly help you, I need to see everything. Every moment you can recall. Every detail, every idea, everything about you. So again, I offer you my services in exchange for two rules. The first is, you assist the guardians. The second, you do everything I tell you to, when I tell you, how I tell you. Do we have a deal?"
...
"Yes."
"Okay then, we have much to do, and fortunately, plenty of time to do it. That is, in the mind at least."
"How much exactly?"
"About an hour to the minute."
"Wow.... we do have time..."
"Indeed.... lets begin."
I'm kind of interested but want to read through all the info before I decide. It'll have to wait until tomorrow though as I'm currently watching the rugby (getting up at 5:30am was NOT fun) and heading into London tomorrow. I'll PM tomorrow with a sheet if I feel that I'm up to this...althoguh from a glance, it looks as though this could work well for a character idea I've had for a looooong time.
Welcome, please fill a charachter sheet out and PM it to me. You'll join with the next chapter.
Bastian looked around. An old dusty bookcase was on the left side of the room, a desk near the door and a painting of a regal castle, pennants waving in the breeze, hung on the right wall. It was a small, private study...that much was clear...Bastian walked up to the bookcase and looked at the spines. Every edition of the british journal of surgical medicine from 1985 to present was there along with textbooks....many of them written by the same author, Pietro Van Diverson II. Bastian looked around and said "Everyone look close and hard. We may find something."
Bastian pulled out a funny looking fob watch with a weird meter on it. A chronometer, which measures time magic related energies. He paced the room, looking at the red hand pointing to the 0, which meant everything was fine. Until he neared the window and it dipped, to -3 which was the lowest point. Someone had ground time to almost a halt, the Golden Skull was a Chronomancer.
"Found something, this assassin is a Chronomancer. I'm getting residual readings here, its still decaying....watch." the hand was slowly increasing to 0 again, but the grind was slow.
Bastian looked over at the desk. Check the desk, please...Joseph."
You will find papers, detailed letters to aquatinces like Mister X or Miss Y, and an empty envelope addressed to 33 Westminster Road...detailing things to do with the Hellfire Club (bad guys)
"Righty-ho"
Harper walked over to the desk and opened the drawers: "I've got some writing equipment, there's loads of papers." He opened the other ones, "There's some correspondences here, Miss Smith and a 'Virgil'. Hang on, there's an empty envelope here addressed to Westminster Road, number 33. Some of this stuff seems to concern the Hellfire Club too. I wonder which was the last he worked on..."
Go ahead
"Hmm...a surgeon with some ties to the Hellfire Club. Not a good sign. Our killer...he seems to be sympathetic towards monsters and magic..." started Bastian, thinking.
"The killer could be offing members of the Hellfire Club to scare them...a vigilante. Breaker, if it's too much to ask, could you see the water content of the ink and the paper or something? Maybe you can see how old it is..." Bastian finished, scratching behind his ear. "Maybe the other victims are Hellfire Club too...do we know anything from the police about the victim?"
For some reason all I can think of during this scene is "Wont back down" by Eminem. Im not huge on rap, especially Eminem, but this song kinda catches the mood and tone and pacing etc.
"So you never told me exactly what you do.. did... sorry"
"Me?"
"Yea."
"I was whatever I was needed to be."
"So you did imperiomancy. Im told you were one of the best."
"Well I dont like to brag."
"What else did you do?"
"Well.... I had a variety of 'skills' that were called upon."
A silent figure stalked through a dark mansion.
All was quiet, the denizens fast asleep.
"Sometimes I went into places I wasnt allowed."
He was crouched in front of a door, lock picks working furiously.
Finally a small click gave him access. He put the kit away and slowly pushed the door open.
"Sometimes I stole things."
"Like what?"
"Thoughts, ideas, plans... and occasionally the unimportant stuff.. jewelry, money etc"
He took off his glove, and let a hand run across an old grey mans head. His gold masks blank, flat surface starred as he observed the man sleeping. Suddenly the door burst open. A man, sword drawn stood ready to face him. Suddenly he was kicked out of the old mans mind as he woke. He hurriedly put his glove back on.
"Mainly, I just killed things though."
Lights began to flare to life as the entire estate woke to the sounds of fighting.
Kin ran a wrist blade clean through the first mans chest. suddenly the small device retracted back into his vambrace.
Bursting out of the bedroom and into the anti-chamber, three more guards approached.
He drew out a short sword and made a clean duck below the first swing to come at him. Taking one hand off the sword, he landed a square right jab into the opponent. Then as quickly as it happened, he grabbed the mans arm and swung him around into the second guard, knocking them both down. A parry of the third mans strike, and he stepped in close and ran the wrist blade up through his jaw, the blade shooting out of its container with lighting speed.
The other two guards were back up and three more had joined them. As the first one stabbed, he blocked it and spun around, swinging the pommel stone of the sword into the back of his head and dodging a second stab simultaneously. Another attempted to grab him, but Kin took his elbow, bent it and swung hard twice into his chest, then into his face. He collapsed from getting the wind knocked out of him, then the concussion.
Muay Thai. Kin had been a practitioner for years. And a Nak Muay ("boxer") who knew what he was doing was a force to be reckoned with.
Kin deflected another thrust then stabbed quickly, leaving the sword in his victim, he freed up his hands. He quickly dispatched of the rest and began to head for the roof. More guards, the rest of the security detail, was hot on his heels. He bent over slightly and put his shoulder into the door leading to the roof. He ran out and quickly turned the corner.
He looked over the edge. Too high.
What the hell convinced him this was a good idea?
He turned to see about seven more men surround him. Something one of them was yelling about having no where to go. He didnt know, he wasnt paying attention. His train of thought:
"seven, two long swords, two short, three halberds. Ranks: unknown. unimportant. Probable levels of experience: former army turned private contractor. Average build, stocky. all are carrying daggers as sidearms. Currently status: exhausted from late night shift, visible signs of intoxication present. Likely loosened up, but not drunk enough to make critical mistake Approximate distance 10 to 15 feet away. Floor surface, tilestone. Wet, slippery from persistent rain storm. Fall from ledge: forty feet, likely fatal. "
He snapped back to focus.
".. You have got nothing."
Suddenly a sick twisted skeleton smile showed itself on the mask. He crooked a finger at them.
"Kill him!"
~if I had a nickle for every time I heard that one~
Their first mistake, Kin noted, was not using the polearms to cover the approach of the longswords, which arent fast enough to cover them selves like short swords were. The first one was killed by a swift wrist blade. The body hadnt even had the time to fall before he grabbed it and pushed it towards the other man. Using it for a shield, he grabbed the second as he tried to shake his fallen companion off. Pull his right arm out of the way, he swung his elbow hard into his neck, then a knee to his chest taking him off balance. Finally he swung him toward the edge, tripping him and sending him flying off into the darkness of the night.
He tripped up one of the men with polearms. The second mistake, he thought, was sending them in alone.
~Who is running this security force???~
He forced the halberd out of his hands and swung it towards the next who blocked it at the cost of his own swing. As he connected with his halberd he ducked another swing from a short sword. Then a swift kick to the mans face sent the guard backwards.He swung around wide and drove a wristblade into the second pole arm bearing mans neck. A direct hit dropped him, clutching his neck. As the first attempted to get back to his feet, Kin plowed his knee into the mans head. From that kick, he immediately brought his heel onto the mans neck, knocking him out.
As the last two squared off with him he laughed on the inside.
Third mistake.....
~they just dont know when to quit. Im not sure if I should admire them, or pity them...~
He somehow slipped through two simultaneous swings like a greased pig. He punched one guard hard and made him keel over. He pushed him down onto his knees, then Kin quickly ducked another swing from the other guard. Then he reverted his attention back to the man on the ground, bringing a foot down hard onto his ankle and breaking it. Then he pushed the man down onto his stomach. The other guard looked down for a brief moment, then turned up just to see a pair of bent knees fly up and hit his chest. Kin fell on him and ran his wriste blade through his skull.
The masked man stood up.
~hmph....~
He began to uncoil a small rope and tie it to a rail...
"Sounds intense... crazy.. my kind of crazy." Rueben remarked.
"If you have any desire left to fight again, I can help you with it." Kin said.
"Well I certainly hope so, especially after that. So are you gonna teach me that elbow and knee stuff?"
"Eventually..."
So could anyone tell me what's going on so I could jump in? I have my sheet right here.
Name: Hadrian Selene
RANK: Guardian of Light
RACE: Lycanthrope
SCHOOL OF MAGIC: Sanguinimancy
SIGNATURE WEAPON: Pair of katara, affectionately named Body and Soul.
Body is the heavier of the two, used for strong blows and breaking an opponents guard and armor, wielded in his right hand. The blade is double-edged, straight, and has a dark hue. The word, "Body" is inscribed on the arm guard in Silirian.
Soul is the lighter of the two, used for rapid slashes and stabs, wielded in his left hand. The blade is slightly smaller than Body, double-edged, curved on both sides, and has a bright hue. The word "Soul" is inscribed on the arm guard in Fey.
Both are made out of steel.
SIDEARM/RANGED WEAPON: Star metal throwing knives
SUPPLEMENTARY WEAPONS: Poisonous gas bombs
Hadrian was a former human mercenary. He was well-known for his heavy reliance in melee weapons, as well as his sadistic streak. A man came in one day, wanted him to assassinate a band of thieves who made their hideout in the forest. Hadrian believed this would be a fairly simple job. His client told him that they were petty thieves, armed with little more than iron daggers and junk armor. Night came, and when he arrived, he found no thieves, but the client who hired him. He questioned the man, asking why he was there, but the man only smiled, to reveal a mouth full of sharp teeth. Before he could react, the man changed into a white-haired werewolf and attacked him. Unable to fight back, Hadrian blacked out.
When he awoke, he found himself at the feet of the man. He introduced himself as "Ulric", and claimed that Hadrian was his kin now. He explained his bond with him and Hadrian, telling him of his new powers and capabilities. As soon as he was finished, Ulric forced Hadrian to change. His blood felt like it was boiling, his arms tingled and shook uncontrollably. He felt his spine stretch and his jaw open to inhuman proportions and elongate. His body soon turned into that of a werewolf, covered in shaggy black hair. Once more, he blacked out, but when he awoke, he found the remains of someone, who Hadrian assumed was Ulric.
Hadrian abandoned his home, and lived as a hermit for several years, slowly learning to control his transformations and completely avoiding towns and settlements, sticking mainly to the forests. After those years of hermitage, he recruited himself into the Guardians, intending to put his powers to good use. Many members dislike him due to his ruthless and underhanded methods. He has learned how to change into a werewolf at will, but is prone to fits of insanity, going completely berserk attacking friend and foe alike.
YAY! Now we can have tea!
We're currently investigating the crime shown in the first post of the actual RP (on page 2 somewhere), other people are researching some stuff in a library and...
Oh I don't know, I sense a fight scene soon.
Breaker saw the letters were written in ink. "Let me see those, if i'm correct the one with a higher water concentration should be the newer letter."
Which on is the newer one?
I don't think you can drop in atm, we're all doing specific tasks which we were called to do by name, but I'd guess you'd probably be able to come in shortly (as like a driver who's then transfered or something) since we're in like the first hour of the investigation...
After reading both The Illuminomicon and the Compendium of Faith and Doctrine Kase's head was pounding. It not only hurt from how much of it he'd red but from the trying to comprehend all the religious stuff too; it wasn't really his forte. He did manage to come across some valuable and interesting information regarding the Grey Maiden and chronomancy, as well as glowing green (possibly anti-magic) blade rituals.
Apparently the Grey Maiden was a cultist leader of some sort and who's followers were almost all chronomancers, though it was unclear of the intentions due to most of the page being ripped out prior to Kase reading it. "Probably sacrifices too." He thought. The Grey Maiden was also brought up in the Illuminomicon in some of the passages pertaining to Annatang Faith i the Light but it seemed a little abstract for Seth to understand it himself, he'd probably bring it to Bastian and the others once they got back.
"Lets talk imperiomancy."
"Okay."
In the deep blank vastness of Kins mind, the two stood over a long dinning room table. The kind one might see in a mansion. It was covered with papers and writings and manuscripts.
"Tell me what you already know."
"Not much im afraid." Rueben said feeling slightly stupid.
"Dont sweat it, most 'in the loop' folks dont really even know. Most of them think its the ability to read somebodies mind."
"It isn't?"
Kin was looking through the papers, attempting to find a specific one. "Well, yes, but not exclusively. And when you put it that way, it doesnt do the study much justice."
He finally pulled out a long, rolled up sheet of parchment, wide, like a map.
"Think of the mind as fabric. When it is well stitched, its in a proper form and can be use to fulfill a specific need. When it is disorganized, it isnt much use now is it?"
Unrolling the parchment, it showed a diagram of the human mind.
"An imperiomancer can not only see the fabric, but also can feel it, touch it, change it, and the better ones can even create it out of nothing. Now Im told that within your unit you had... extraordinary abilities when it came to understanding emotions and feelings of other men in your unit."
"Well," Rueben began to object. "It was war, everybody was experiencing negative emotion."
"Ah but, you didnt just feel it, you knew it. You knew exactly what was behind their emotions."
"Yeah, well, sort of..."
"Unlike many other schools of magic, imperiomancy is more involved in the receptive aspect, rather than the projective."
"You mean its more about how things feel?"
"Yes."
