-What is your favorite hairstyle and why (pics encouraged)?

A high ponytail with long bangs - the style you see everywhere. I just like it. Always have. Practical, but frames the face.

-Your least favorite hairstyle and why (pics encouraged)?

I don'tthink I have one - different hair looks good on different people. ... Except mutton chops, and bald-on-top-but-not-the-side. That doesn't look good on anyone.

-What hairstyle do you currently have (pics encouraged, they can be googled or you can upload an image of your hair)?

Same as the picture in my profile, but a few inches longer now. And with the summer humidity, curlier and puffier. So it's kind of movie-star hair today. I have awesome hair.

-What do you do (if anything) to keep the hairstyle you have? This isn't just about gels used to keep its shape, but also what you do/use to keep your hair's texture and level of moisture.

I'm one of those people women hate. I wash and condition my hair pretty much daily (about 5 days a week, conditioner sits in my hair for a couple minutes, max, and it's just generic stuff), blowdry it when I'm out of the shower - on high heat, and then use a straightening iron all over my hair... on high heat. I haven't cut it in 8+ months and I have no split ends. I hate using product, too. Our hairdresser friend @Miyenne mentioned kinda hates me.

-How long do you spend setting your hair up (styling it, if you do)?

I shower the night before work, so it takes a minute or two to comb out after the shower, 5-10 to blowdry, and then just a couple minutes running the straightening iron through it to get rid of the frizzies. So... not much.

-How important is your hair on a scale of 0 to 10 (zero being "I don't give a damn how my hair looks" and 10 being "My world falls apart if it isn't exactly the way I want it")?

As I've gotten older, my hair has cooperated a lot more, but it's also gotten thinner. I used to freak out over my hair when I was younger, now it usually looks fine. If I'm not doing anything or going out, it's usually in a high ponytail anyway. I'd say a... 6/7 now, but it usually looks pretty good on it's own.

I usually wear my hair in a high pony tail for work. Problem for me is I have a very negative image of myself so I think I look horrid no matter what I do with my hair, though I would love for it to look like this;

I'm considering getting it permed to look like that, but I'm worried about ruining my hair like my aunt.
My hair has a natural perm that looks kinda like a shorter version of that. Straighter around the roots, but it gets some soft curls as it gets to the tips. It turns people into jelly. Also, yes, you do look cute in a wig.

Anyway, I'm a 21-year old girl, Hair's pretty important, and I like a variety of styles. I really like the cute Emo Girl hair though, because I like volume:

Least favorite hair? Sam said it here:

Thanks Sam!

Now, as I said, my hair has some soft curls, though it's not as long as I'd like. This would be me a few months ago:

I've got no recent pics though, so that'll have to do. Imagine that, but maybe an inc longer and that's what I've got today.

Hair care-wise? I don't do a ton, actually. No conditioner, just wash, dry, and style. I has natural perm, so nothing too drastic is needed to get it looking alright.

I don't know about being turned to jelly, but I am certainly jealous! Your hair is lovely u_u

Thanks! I'm kinda happy about it, because at least something worked out right there. Not a lot of things worked out for me from the start, but that was one of the few that did.

What is your favorite hairstyle and why (pics encouraged)?
I like bobs and long-ish hair with heavy bangs. I really like Zooey Deschanel's hair.
Your least favorite hairstyle and why (pics encouraged)?
There isn't any specific hairstyle I dislike. I just don't like the way really damaged, usually over-bleached hair looks.
What hairstyle do you currently have (pics encouraged, they can be googled or you can upload an image of your hair)?
I have long, thick, red (dyed) hair and heavy bangs. I have to cut it soon, because the lengths look really heavy and I need more bounce in my hair. It looks a bit like this, but longer and more layered:
What do you do (if anything) to keep the hairstyle you have? This isn't just about gels used to keep its shape, but also what you do/use to keep your hair's texture and level of moisture.
I have quite straight hair and I don't really have to use any special products to keep it looking nice. I use silicone-free shampoos and moisturizing conditioners. I wash it every other day and let it air-dry.
How long do you spend setting your hair up (styling it, if you do)?
I usually just use a straightening iron to shape my bangs and brush the rest of the hair, so it doesn't take that long. Less than 5 minutes. If I curl it, it takes roughly 10 minutes longer.
How important is your hair on a scale of 0 to 10 (zero being "I don't give a damn how my hair looks" and 10 being "My world falls apart if it isn't exactly the way I want it")?
I'd say 7-8. It's important in the sense that I do get a bit cranky on days when my har doesn't co-operate, but I'm not really that fussy about it. I trim/cut and dye it myself and I'm not really that bothered if I cut it a bit too much etc.

Hairstyles I like I women: Long, soft curls, straight, tight curls, wavy, shortish and layered, choppy and inverted bobs.
Hairstyles I like on me: short, layered, choppy, messy, spikey, up on end, straight, thick and wavy.

Hairstyles I dislike on women: Too short, about above the ears. That Skrillex sorta hairstyle which counts for men too. Half shaved and long on the other side, ugh. Also when girls clip their hair across their forehead to make it look like a fringe. They just look like lego men and look stupid in my opinion.
Also that stupid pineapple hair some girls have where they just throw their heads forward and tie it up. Those doughnut buns looks daft too.
Hairstyles I dislike on men: Long, greasy lanky hair makes me a bit ill. I really dislike past shoulder length hair and REALLY dislike ponytails on guys. Not a fan of buzzcuts or fully shaved.

My hair at the minute is a frizzy mess. I don't even bother with it or use products because the second I leave the house it frizzes up.
I don't really have a style and never have, It's just naturally wavy and I keep it layered with a proper fringe.

Too many questions to keep in my head at this hour. I'll just focus on the important stuff.

Favourite haristyle. Hm, not sure. Have an overall preference for longer hair. The longer the better. Cute stuff can most certainly work, but I prefer the elegance of long flowing hair.

My current hair-style is a hime-cut. No idea how to up-load images and the few I have are in absurd resolution. It's basically the same as the wikipedia example, except more narrow front. Covers a lot when I do it right. Takes half-an-hour or so to flatten it for me, add shower.

How important? Very. Well, I can relax it a bit when I feel lazy. But my hair is very very important, my main source of confidence for several years and as one of my transgendered friends said "The hair is holy." If someone tries to intentionally damage it, I would at least break their limbs. It's one of my berserk buttons so to speak, don't touch it without permission and damage it at own risk.

Least favoured would be extremely short, my best friend had it a while when he was in the military. Gods, I can't stand it. o_O

Cool. Another hair thread. I guess I'm not the only one that thinks about it more in the summer.
I like to keep my hair short for convenience (it's pretty thick) but my wife likes my hair on the longish side so I tend to just take a long time between haircuts and make us both happy.
Favorite hairstyles. I like it when it's short (and a little longer in the front) because it's quick and easy. But I can see why my wife likes it on the longer side, in the winter, I let it get a little more crazy and if I add a bushy gotee, I look like an extra from Game of Thrones; she likes the books and the show too so she gets a kick out of that. She doesn't dress up like Rocky
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IfeGnr2lE4

For women, I would have to say my favorite is the aline bob style that's been popular for the past several years. It just looks good on any woman. I used to not like bowl cuts on women but the chick from iconapop is changing my mind, now I Love It. Feel free to groan at that one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxxajLWwzqY
When it comes to longer styles (for both genders) my taste is rather boring. I like it loose and without a lot of layering, not heavy layering at least.

Least favorite hairstyle is probably the mullet. It was bad enough when guys had them but lately we've seen more women with them. Used to just be biker chicks. It needs to stop. And the bald look usually only looks good on black guys. As I mentioned in the other thread. I like pixie haircuts but I hate the recent trend of slicking them to the side like Hitler. Why would you want to look like Hitler?
I used to spend a lot of time, use pomade or gel but I don't use much now other than conditioner most of the time. Sometimes if my hair is getting poofy, I'll get the gel out and spend a little more time on it.
How important is my hair to me? As my appearance goes, pretty important, it's one of the things people notice first about me so I guess it's an 8 or 9. Not as important as teeth and pits of course. Also not as important as my wife's hair.

My favourite on girls would be hairstyles that are punk or differs from the norm. Anything that's normal or long is just plain boring. I don't care about men, but I suppose long hair can be cool.

Least favourite would be anything which is bland and too regular.

I have long hair in two colors, black and blonde.
<spoiler=Similar>

I should probably bleach it again soon, since it's more black than blonde. I don't care much about my hair, or style it often either.

My hair looks like this right now, just a bit shorter. It used to be down to my butt, but that just got to be way too much work, so I chopped most of it off.

What do I do? Wash, condition, then nothing. I don't brush, I don't blow-dry, I don't use styling products. I might use some homemade flax seed gel every so often, but most of the time I'm too damned lazy to make it.

P.S. I am an 18 year old male with dirty blonde hair, short on the sides and a little longer on the top (I generally let it grew out over a month or two before I finally get off my butt and cut it). I usually just use mousse or axe hair gel to spike it up and back. My hair is pretty dry no matter what I do, and it lays straight and frizzles unless I use copious amounts of styling gel.
I'm quoting this so you see my message :p If you haven't looked into it, try learning about low-poo or no-poo alternatives for your hair. Mine was a frizzy mess until I cut silicones and sulphates out of my hair's diet. You might also want to look into my aforementioned flax seed gel as a styling product. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than store-bought products (all you need are whole flax seeds and water).

I have unusually long hair for a guy, about Aragorn long right now. While I do kinda like it longer the real reason is I'm just too lazy, or cheap, to get it cut often.

Another 18 year old male here, boy we're not a minority.
So it would seem.

Anyways, 'nother 18 year old male here, and I'm really glad I stumbled upon this thread. I naturally have really dark hair (pictured in my profile) but I recently bleached part of it, and I'm in the process of growing it out. I'll dye it back to normal once it gets to the desired length, I'm going for a Norman Reedus look. In addition to the bleaching, I also have one side cut really short, and that plus my wrist tattoos and sense of style kind of give me a 'punk' look I guess. Also, I have to use a ton of Axe gel to make it cooperate.

I wish I could post of pic of what it looks like right now, but my phone is refusing to sync to my computer, and I'm having a hell of a time fixing it. I'll try to post something tomorrow.

I'm a 20 year old male with long hair that reaches about halfway down my back/a couple of inches below my nipples. So for me, it's not so much a style as it is just long. There's no real tampering involved. It just hangs down straight and that is about it. So I guess my favourite hair"style" would be long and straight (but not dead straight that you get from a hair straightener, natural straight :D ). I do, however, like the look of being completely bald. While I doubt it would look good on me, having a completely shaved head Rob Halford-style can be a very effective look.

I originally grew my hair out because of my rather intense passion for heavy metal, however I have since come to genuinely enjoy having long hair for what it is, rather than it being a mere musical appearance. With the exception of windy weather, I find it very comfortable and very.. well, me. I imagine I'd feel rather naked without my hair at this point, which I have been growing out for the past 4-5 years.

As for the importance of my hair, I'd rate it an 8 on your scale. I could cut it off if it were very necessary, but I'd hate doing so and I'd feel uncomfortable for ages afterwards. It just feels like a solid part of myself at this point, and it has certainly evolved from just being an image for my musical preference into something more. I make it sound all very dramatic, but I'm sure someone knows what I mean.

As for my least favourite hair style, probably clean cut office-job hair. It just seems generic and bland to me.

What is your favorite hairstyle and why (pics encouraged)?
Any long hair. Down to where your neck and head connect at least (which in my opinion isn't long, but a lot of people disagree with me). It feels comfortable, and isn't a complete hassle to to maintain. Takes more effort then head stumble hair, but not hours to do.

Your least favorite hairstyle and why (pics encouraged)?
Any hairstyle that requires the use of some gel or chemical to exist. I don't know what else that does to my head.
Even then I'd rather not keep buying something else along with my normal hair care products (which is only shampoo.)

What hairstyle do you currently have (pics encouraged, they can be googled or you can upload an image of your hair)?
I just let it hang. I suppose that is called a bowl cut or something? idk.
I basically naturally look like this picture of Nomura

What do you do (if anything) to keep the hairstyle you have? This isn't just about gels used to keep its shape, but also what you do/use to keep your hair's texture and level of moisture.
Normal no name brand shampoo.
I comb it and make it straight every morning.
I usually go out with a hat (beanie) to flatten it so that random frizzy bits aren't sticking out by the time I need to take it off.
I also use shampoo only every other shower, because using shampoo all the time drys out your scalp really fast.
People don't notice that with short hair, because... well they have short hair and don't care to grow their hair.

How long do you spend setting your hair up (styling it, if you do)?
I comb it and make sure it's straight all round. That's it. Takes anywhere from 2-10 mins, depending on severity of bedhead. Wearing a hat to flatten it out after I make sure it isn't tangled usually takes care of all the work.

How important is your hair on a scale of 0 to 10 (zero being "I don't give a damn how my hair looks" and 10 being "My world falls apart if it isn't exactly the way I want it")?
6 I guess. It is important to me, but not enough that I style it in fantastic ways.
Anyone who does though, it's really cool and I wish I had enough knowledge about hair products.

Female here,
My favorite and current haircut is the "pixie" haircut. There seem to be different versions, but mine looks like this:
I used to have longer hair, but since my hair is very thick, it get's really annoying when I reach a certain length. This is more comfortable and matches my face better.
My hair color is brown, but I don't really like it, so I dye my hair in a - more or less - natural dark red. I envy born redheads. x.x
Furthermore, I don't really need to use gels or something to make it look good. But when I'm in the mood, I use gel to make my hair look more spiky. It takes like 5 minutes. In the end, my hair is quite important to me, like an 8.^^
Concerning males, the more hair, the better for me. :p Well, not longer than shoulder-length though. I just don't like really short haircuts.

I have long, black hair. I don't have good pictures of it, or of it in a braid and I don't really want to take any.

-What is your favorite hairstyle and why ?

I usually wear my hair in a single braid down the back and then cover the top of my head with a bandana. I haven't had it cut short or professionally styled in years.

-Your least favorite hairstyle and why ?
Down and everywhere. It gets in my eyes, my mouth. It's best up.

-What hairstyle do you currently have?

Braid and bandana.

-What do you do (if anything) to keep the hairstyle you have? This isn't just about gels used to keep its shape, but also what you do/use to keep your hair's texture and level of moisture.

I don't shampoo and condition (paraben and sulfate free) every time I shower (unless it's actually dirty from something I did that day), which makes my hair occasionally 'greasy', people tend to think that letting your hair get that way is pretty gross, but my hair is healthier for it. It ends up shinier, fuller, and healthier when the natural oils get to finally hang out and do their job. I don't use any tools, no blow-dryers, curling irons, or straighteners. I also don't use any hair-sprays, mousse, gels, or wax. My sister bought me argan hair-oil, but I rarely use that. I let it all air-dry and then lightly brush out the ends first before the rest of my hair. I let it rest for awhile before re-braiding it.

-How long do you spend setting your hair up (styling it, if you do)?

A minute or two, unless I am going out or somewhere nice. Then I do a french braid down each side of my head that leads to one braid, going down my back. That one takes a bit longer, but usually it looks nice. If for some reason I'm really trying to make a good impression, I'll shampoo and condition my hair the night before, braid it before I go to bed, and then brush it out in the morning. It will look like a curled it, but I didn't. There usually isn't someone I want to impress that much.

-How important is your hair on a scale of 0 to 10 (zero being "I don't give a damn how my hair looks" and 10 being
"My world falls apart if it isn't exactly the way I want it")?

With the way I do my hair, I'd say it's a 3. I don't want it to be filthy, out and everywhere, and all over the place, but it doesn't need to be a two hour marathon of getting the hair absolutely perfect, either.

-What is your favorite hairstyle and why (pics encouraged)?
I like long hair, the longer the better! I seem to always be saving to get longer hair, but in the past I have always cut it because I'm impatient and it takes too damn long... The last 2 years I have barely gone to a hairdresser at all, I'm dedicated to saving now and want it to become as long as possible. It has started to make its way past my shoulders... Why so slow?!

-Your least favorite hairstyle and why (pics encouraged)?
Bald... Not so much a hairstyle as a hairlesstyle (hurr hurr), but I really like hair! I think pretty much everyone looks better with hair, exeptions being Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. I think Teal'c looks far better with hair!

-What hairstyle do you currently have (pics encouraged, they can be googled or you can upload an image of your hair)?

Very untidy, because as mentioned I'm just letting it grow right now, want it as long as possible. Also on display, my tongue, because I cannot do a picture without also doign a face. It is a curse. No, I don't mind my slightly bushy eyebrows... I like them, they look like... Eyebrows! Drawn-on or tattooed ones are creepy as hell, so are real hair ones that LOOK drawn on because they are super thin and defined...

-What do you do (if anything) to keep the hairstyle you have?
I wash it, shampoo and conditioner, and I brush it every day. Nothing more than that X3

-How long do you spend setting your hair up (styling it, if you do)?
Not long, sometimes I put something decorative in it, but usually I leave it as is and push it behind my ear if I want to see better X3.

-How important is your hair on a scale of 0 to 10 (zero being "I don't give a damn how my hair looks" and 10 being "My world falls apart if it isn't exactly the way I want it")?
i guess a 7... Its not important like I style it constantly, but it important because I really really love hair... I want to have a lot of it, but I'm not so bothered if it doesn't look picture perfect all the time... It never looks picture perfect though...

Looking in the mirror, at the time of writing I am sporting the exact same hairstyle as you... Seems to be exactly the same lenght, parted in the same place and very similar "curliness" around the shoulder... Only diference seems to be yours is darker X3. (mine has grown a bit since that pic, which was just lying around on my PC so I used it...).

My favourite hairstyle when I go to the Barbers is simply called 'Shorter'

I just use Head and Shoulders anti-dandruff. They used to do a citrus one for greasy hair which was brilliant because my hair gets greasy and dandruffy real fast, but they stopped making that line. Grrrr.

Apart from that my hairstyle is simply short all over (about an inch)
with a slightly longer fringe, and when it gets to about 2 or 3 inches I end up looking like Shaggy from ScoobyDoo

(This is pretty much exactly what I look like with longer hair. It's good for Halloween if nothing else)

I never liked gel or anything, and don't care about how it looks as long as it isn't icky.
