The Halo Movie: What The Hell Is Going On?

Okay so recently i have been playing halo quite a lot (i just got xbox live) and having seen the live action ads for the more recent halo games (the delivering hope and we are ODST), the halo legends anime (well homecoming and origins in particular) and Red vs Blue I have seen how great the visuals and narrative for halo cannon can be and remembered there was a halo movie planned and cancelled.
but after a brief google search i found that the halo movie is still scheduled for 2012, despite blomkamp and (to my knowledge) jackson dropping the project completely. so could you guys help me out in figuring what the hell is happening with the movie?
