So I was just on Gametrailers watching some videos when I came accross this comment

There's nothing excellent or challenging about the games, people like it because it gives them comfort which is one of the main reasons it's popular. So it's basically the McDonalds and Christianity of video games. Halo is to Marathon as BioShock was to System Shock 2; they're dumb downed and popular versions of great complex and underrated titles. Halo is influential, in the way it influences first-person shooters to being dumb downed for mass market appeal. Fluent will certainly agree with me because he's smart, unlike Halo fans. Halo fans do not have artistic taste in video games, nor in any other mediums.Fluent one of the smartest, if not the smartest gamer on Earth, the man who proves that Halo fans are not intelligent and the Halo is by objective fact (Not an opinion) an overrated game series.

If you can't be screwed reading all of that let me sum it up for you. The guy who said it, named "FluentIsGod" is an overly pretentious, thirdperson speaking, hate filled asscricket (special thanks to JEBWrench for calling Bobby Kotick an "asscricket") who believes that his opinions are objective fact and has directed all of his hate towards the halo franchise. I don't love Halo, I don't find it very well written but it is still a lot of fun to play with friends.

Back-on-topic: "FluentIsGod" generalised all people who play halo as "children with little to no experience in gaming, or culture and politics in general." which I find infinitely retarded. A lot of mainstream franchises have to suffer through asscrickets (awesome word) liket this who hate a game just because it is mainstream and simple. see halo and CoD. I really don't see the point of it all. Why criticise a game just because it is popular? I see generalisation like this all the time and I've had enough.

Escapists. If there are any of you out there who similar views as the dumb bastard who thinks he is God, shut up and get a life you dumb pricks. Yes this may sound a bit harsh but here is one simple thing that I feel must be said: Just because you don't like a game doesn't mean that its fanbase are idiots.

I also have a feeling that he has no idea what "objective" means... Look, the internet is a dark and scary place filled with rage. Even on the Escapist, and don't even pretend there is no hate and flame on the Escapist. Look, people will never know who you are and can't do anything to you in real life (well, most of the time) so there is nothing holding stupid people back from showing off their stupidity. The only people they'll offend are people they'll never meet, and they can be secretly satisfied. It's sad, really.

It's funny that he can't even find anything to criticize it for, he just throws out platitudes like "it's dumbed down" and "it's generic". He couldn't come up with a single decent, thoughtful criticism.

I don't mind people hating on games, I'd even encourage constructive criticism, but you've got to be able to name a tangible flaw to legitimize your argument or else you are indeed (as you so eloquently put it) an asscricket.

I'm ashamed to admit this but I think I recognise the guy who made that insidious comment. In fact I think any long time Escapist that was around a lot in the later months of 2009 probably also is getting a wierd sense of deja-vu.
If you weren't around or don't remember let me spell it out, this is the spitting image of a Joobnook comment. Also known as _oo__oo_, the Halo Hating Troll who was constantly posting on this site with the same angry hate posts that had zero connection to logic just like the above. Given that he left the Escapist after making like forty accounts, my guess is he moved on to Gametrailers as I've seen a similar trend happening over there.


Still the fact is, Halo attracts some really angry and aggressive hate and as this guy demonstrates, they can be far worse than even the most defensive fanboy. Still given that he wastes this much of his spare time making angry hate posts he's really not worth any attention.

I will never understand why any game could illicit that kind of behavior, especially something as innocuous as Halo. Maybe something like Dungeon Lords or Big Rigs- games that were incomplete/totally broken when they shipped, because people actually got ripped off, but Halo... By any standards it's at least an "okay" game, at very least it is complete and playable.

Meh, never, EVER go to GameTrailers for the mature and insightful comments if you ask me... so long as you want trailers and (semi)decent reviews of games, the GameTrailers delivers... but for actual community and the 'human touch', The Escapist is far better a place to be.

Wow...I think he insulted about 5 different groups there. Halo fans, Bioshock fans, CoD fans, Christians, and people who like McDonalds. I admit, Halo is a little bit overhyped, but it has to be doing something right if it is still one of the most played Xbox live games.

Halo's ok not all that and MW2 is way way overhyped I don't hate it I just don't like it.
