Ok, everyone saying "they publish it they dont make the game" i think you are forgetting something very very important.

The publisher has the money.

If you have the money, you have the power. The publishers use that to push devs to release games before they are ready or remove or add certain aspects. Basically they do have a bigger say in the games being developed than you're giving them credit.

OT: No EA doesnt deserve the hate they get anymore. They deserved it before but have done a real 180 in my opinion taking risk and establishing new IP's... even if only so they can milk them in the future but thats ok. Keep promoting growth and creativity and making good games and all is forgiven.

I'm sleepy, cba reading rest of the thread, this has probably been mentioned.

Spore Hacked day before release much? Legal copies could only install 3(?) times before it became unusable?
Incredi-bad Lag with Bad Company servers (Which doesn't seem to have been fixed in BC2 either *Insert Sad Panda Here*)
[Not sure about this actually... do DICE provide the servers? if so i retract this statement]

Battlefield 2142, great concept. bad execution. laglaglag/Requires internet connection to DUCKING INSTALL THE FAMN THING.
And of course the sports games. Looking at you Fifa X. >_>
EDIT: Forgot to mention BC2 will have no MOD Tools. Yay.
So yeah. Pretty much justified

Activision takes the cake on Evil. I did a thread on this a while back where I called Ea evil as well, but I can't find it.

EA is actually a pretty good company. Activision loves to nickel and dime us to death, and they only want guaranteed success. EA is the same way, but they make better games while doing it.

The hate arose from a combination of their acquisition and subsequent destruction of several prominent and well loved game development houses back in the 90's (Origin, Bullfrog, etc.), and their long track record of treating their employees like indentured slaves (do a google search on EA widows).

In 2008 John Riccitiello (EA's CEO) admitted that they blew it with their previous development houses, revealing that those companies felt "buried and stifled" after being swallowed by EA. He promised the company was going to turn over a new leaf, and to be fair to EA the stench of evil doesn't surround them quite as much as it used to.

Still, they've got a lot of goodwill to accumulate to make up for the sins of the past.

It's the fact that they swallow up smaller companies. Including my local video game developers, Bioware. But it doesn't look like their quality diminished with the EA takeover, so I don't get the fuss.

What DOES annoy me is when people say "Oh, Battlefield? EA game. It sucks." It's DICE you idiots. DICE made it. Not EA. EA produced it. Get it?
They swallowed up bioware? I don't much care for them even if they are my local developers too (Edmontonians UNITE) mainly because people keep saying many JRPGs should be more like -insert bioware game here- at least in my experience (thank god it is not so much on here)

OT: I just hate EA sports.
