Considering the fact that most people on this forum understand what bigotry is, and that it isn't a good thing, I'd say yes. :)

OT: You know marriage is the leading cause of divorce? It's true. If so many heterosexual couples weren't getting married, the divorce rate wouldn't be nearly as high.
Fun fact: Some surveys suggest Gay couples are more likely to stay together than straight couples, and medical surveys confirmed no significant, consistent differences in Hetero vs. Homo relationships.

Which actually doesn't surprise me. If you spend 30 years protesting for the right to get married, you'd probably stay married.

Bigotted intolerance is still bigotted intolerance, even in a poor attempt at humorous role reversal, or if the opinion is popular. Going out of your way to publicly and proactively mock something you do not agree with and encourage others to join in with that mockery is still bigotry and honestly I am at a loss to see how this can be seen as appropriate. Yeah, I get the joke, and it is every bit as offensive as ever gay joke, racist joke, misogynist joke.

Personally I had always thought this community was better than this. I am really stunned.

Unless pro_family_lover finds it, I'd wager probably so.

cool, I am in the minority! No I won't start flaming you guys.
Pretty much goes without saying that they don't need to be flamed.

Hey, some of us "heteros" just want to use the rainbow again. It's because queers don't want us to have the rainbow that we have to convert you.

Well I may be a bigot, but I am not a troll. :) Well I am a nice bigot. I don't hate gay people, my religion does not allow for gay marriage and so I guess that is my answer.

You're not alone, gay marriage is ridiculous, as is strait marriage.
Why do people have to enter into a signed legal/religious contract in order to love each other?

You might be preaching to the choir, but "Amen to that!".

Wow. Just wow. I cannot even believe you posted that.
I guess my shock is fair game for connected shock. Care to elaborate?

All that ranting you did about how the guy in the other thread shouldn't have been fired for saying how he wanted somebody dead and then you come in here and rant at someone else for mocking people who attack homosexuals?

All the hypocrisy. You has it.

Edit: I can't see how conversing with you is going to do anything but make me furious, so I'm just nipping this one in the bud and putting you on ignore, for everybody's sake.
Well such is your prerogative. I am sorry you feel that way and wish you the best.

However, I still feel inclined to respond to your reasoning if you chose to read it or not.

First off there was no rant in the other thread, but I do accept that is a matter of opinion. Now you do realize at no time did I say or even imply that the guy should or should not be fired nor did I say he wanted someone dead. Those were your assumptions. You have already commented on my "long winded"ness so the last thing I need is words put in my mouth.

Now you cannot seriously be suggesting that intolerance and hateful, bigoted behavior is acceptable, are you?

If that is the case how exactly does one determine which example of bigotry is condemnable and which ones should be encouraged?

As for hypocrisy, I am sorry but you are categorically wrong there because there is not the slightest shred of confliction. These are essentially boiling down to the same underlying root issue. People willingly imposing their own subjective values and opinions inappropriately as what is valid and dismissing anything else. In the threat thread it was at how that colors peoples interpretations and this one it is pointing out the tolerated and hypocritical double standard.

Now I do think it is regrettable you would block someone for their opinion, but if what I say infuriates you that much, then sadly /ignore would be the logical course of action. What does confuse me is why would you make yourself so upset when in both cases you were the one seeking me out to tell me how my statements were wrong when those quotes were assumptive and judgmental. Was I not supposed to clarify my reasoning and defend my position? How should I have responded? I guess it is a moot point as you likely are not reading this anyway, but I would be remiss if I did not at least address this insinuation of hypocrisy. Sorry things went down this way and you made yourself so upset over differences of opinion. Good luck and God bless.

Pretty much my thoughts too. I think it's just an important symbol for some people. Some people see getting married as a way to "validate" their relationship in the eyes of family, friends, God, etc. Others see it as a statement of commitment.

Personally, I don't feel the need to prove to anyone else that I'm serious about my relationship with my boyfriend. And I think a greater statement of commitment was when we agreed to buy a house together. Getting a divorce is really easy compared to disentangling a joint mortgage!

In the UK, gay couples can enter into a Civil Partnership, which is legally identical to marriage, just with a different word used. But there's still a campaign ongoing to use the same word for both.

I agree as well... you know who my hero is for committed relationships? Gene Simmons... 2 kids and been faithful to the same woman for 28 years while only recently getting married. I think its completely true saying marriage is the leading cause of divorce, I think its the commitment issue that scares people. I think the idea of having a "back door/escape route" comforts people and causes less strain on the relationship instead of being legally bound to the person.

Did any of that make sense?

I think the joker said it best, "why so serious?".

There are double standards, illogical and irrational choices, there are all kinds of crazy stupid, things in the world and things that people do.

Now, we can talk, debate and reason for fucking hours about the reasons all the things happen and for the vast majority of the time, we do! There are countless forums all going over and over the same points in the same topics ... probably throwing up the same points.

Sometimes, just sometimes we need to poke fun at it. We need to say things that might be in bad taste but that is what stops discussion from turning into flaming. Plus in the vast majority of cases, making jokes that are close to the bone never hurt anybody.

I once saw a kid get knocked over, a person said "the driver is really panicking" ... I said "I know bonnets (hoods) aren't cheap, plus his insurance will probably go up!". That joke was in bad taste but did the kid hear it? No. Did it hurt the kid more? No. Did it cause any hurt or distress to anybody? No.

Plus there is friendly racism, like I saw on youtube "roses are red, violets are blue, there is always an Asian who can do it better than you", which I chuckled at. Comics do racist jokes all the time, how many people are complaining about them?

I don't hate heterosexuals. I just want to save them from their sins.

What really annoys me are the breeder enablers!
