I think the game would be much more fun if it forced you along the sneaky path. For starters, take away all the guns. ALL. OF. THEM. Give you plenty of poison to apply to food / drinks, make it easier to know when someone is looking your way, etc.
No. One of the great things about Hitman is that your penalty for screwing up isn't a game over, it's just a messier assassination. If the game forced you to into silent assassin mode it would lose a lot of the charm.

I have fond memories of playing the hotel mission in the original Hitman and its recreation in Contracts. I had a blast doing it both in the proper, stealthy way and the unorthodox, killing spree way.

I didn't really see much other than a game over in failure. If you're in the middle of a mass of guards who have just been told your position, then the only avenue available after being discovered was plowing through all of them with automatics, which made everything feel very screwy.

I'm not sure I entirely agree with you that silent assassin mode is not charming. I really liked Blood Money's newspaper screens that essentially summed up the mission with...

No one saw the assassin, and despite a swarming mass of guards in his mansion, only the media magnate and his son were killed. "It was like nothing happened." reported one of the partygoers, who declined to give her name. "Everything seemed normal, and then one of the bouncers took a microphone and said that...Something has happened, everyone needs to leave now."

Forcing the player along a path is tricky, and I wouldn't do it in all types of games, but when it makes for a much more rewarding and accomplished outcome, I would consider it.

Blood Money is definitely the best in the series, in my opinion. I love the series as a whole but that one stands out for actually getting the formula down. I just hope Absolution is everything I'm expecting and more. Seeing as how Hitman is one of my favorite gaming franchises I don't see myself being dissapointed... unless they pull a stunt like Ubisoft did with Splinter Cell, I'll be good.

I tried Blood Money. It wasn't really for me.

Gave it a fair chance but got bored after the suburbs mission and gave up.
You missed the casino and the mountain retreat!!! The levels that make that game!

Otherwise cool game, will always be a favorite series of mine.

None of the Hitman games appealed to me. Unsure why but playing them stealthy or shooty shooty, I never had fun

Hitman is one of the most replayable series I've ever played. I lost count how many times I played through these games.

No actually, it was this LP that someone shared with me.

But I'll have to check the Criken vids as well.

Wasn't a big fan of the Hitman series, but my brother and my dad love the series. I can see it's merits and I can see why people like it, but it's not really for me.
