Read rule 2 of the holiday suggestion guidelines. Worldwide appeal. We aren't doing country specific holidays. Which means no May 17th and no St. George's Day. Period. Same reason we aren't doing Fourh of July.Daye.04 said:*cough*

Sorry, I'm a damn proud norwegian. And screw you, I'll just make it in paint ..
As far as I'm aware St. Patrick's Day is a fairly wide-spread holiday, especially in the countries most Escapist users come from.Ranooth said:Xitel we did St Patrick's day (ok thats Ireland and America) but its still country specific.
Not in Norway. I've never heard of it until I saw it a few years ago on the internet. Norway has nothing with St. Patricks day what so everxitel said:As far as I'm aware St. Patrick's Day is a fairly wide-spread holiday, especially in the countries most Escapist users come from.Ranooth said:Xitel we did St Patrick's day (ok thats Ireland and America) but its still country specific.
Ah, I was unaware of that, to be honest.Daye.04 said:Not in Norway. I've never heard of it until I saw it a few years ago on the internet. You were? Huh .. I thought you knew it very well. And, you know .. Just excluded "us less important" countries ..xitel said:Ah, I was unaware of that, to be honest.
I don't know if that's a joke or not so I'll say just to be clear that you're not "less important", I honestly didn't know St. Patrick's wasn't well known outside of Britain, Ireland, and the US (although thinking about it it makes sense).Daye.04 said:You were? WEll, it was a joke with a foot in reality. You see. Usually online people are saying that something is a fact, even though it's only for the "most populare" countries.xitel said:I don't know if that's a joke or not so I'll say just to be clear that you're not "less important", I honestly didn't know St. Patrick's wasn't well known outside of Britain, Ireland, and the US (although thinking about it it makes sense).
Well, I apologize if that's the impression you got, but I can promise you that I don't think countries that are small are unimportant. Had I known that St Patrick's Day didn't have the same kind of widespread knowledge that I thought it did I wouldn't have approved it.Daye.04 said:WEll, it was a joke with a foot in reality. You see. This is a bad example, but let's go with it.
"Canada are the only country that has free health care that works well" (This might be so full of flaws, but bear with me. It's just to prove a point). Let's say Australia, US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Russia, China, Japan and etc don't have free health care. at all. And so these are the only countries taken in to consideration in a lot of people from those countries' mind. And they leave out lesser known countries like Norway and such. When you confront them with it, they're like "Whu-? Oh. That's a minor country. That doesn't matter to these statistics, because it's not big enough in the world". That's kinda getting on my nerves from time to time ..
Ah, no. Nothing to worry about. As I've said before, we're .. We're kinda used to that treatment. And now I feel bad for pointing it out, since you appolegized =(xitel said:Well, I apologize if that's the impression you got, but I can promise you that I don't think countries that are small are unimportant.
