Well I've christmasified myself. But for some reason I cant get the gif to work as my avatar, it just stays still. Any help?

Simple, if you want to make a give then it has to fit 75x75 pixels or less.
If you go one pixel further the forum will automatically scale it to fit which will transform it from animated to still.
