Holidays and games have always been a bit odd in my family. Due to being immensely old-fashioned (in a decent enough way), my dad always banned video games on Christmas eve and Christmas day. We'd play board games instead and me and my brothers would wait until Christmas had passed so we could play with our presents.

Going back to my parent's house for the holidays now seems different. I look forward to the board games, and a break from my computer.

Has anyone else found their attitude to Christmas changing over the years?

Time changes as you grow older, some years ago my whole family used to get together (Grand-parents through granchildren) then when my grandmother died all the family started fighting for the moneys and now they dont even see each other.

It was very fun for me (playing with the cousins) but my parents say the adults were only fighting anyways so now we only cook good food and have a good time (my parents and my sister and girlfriend), its less crowded i guess.

I was never banned from playing games over Christmas, but we've always played card games after Christmas dinner. Usually poker or newmarket.

There was a time when we would play board games at Christmas as a family, but those days are long past. I've visited my older brothers for Christmas before a few years ago, and they're quite happy playing video games - Trials HD, Skyrim and Baldur's Gate were on the playlist last Christmas and Boxing Day.

Most of my Christmas is kind of spent doing very little, just kind of relaxing. I like to spend that time doing something novel, like browsing The Escapist :p I don't think my attitude to Christmas has changed all that much; I've just become a lot more happy to sit around relaxing and browsing the internet.

Well I have as long as I can remember gone the 25th to my grandparents which at a young age was boring as hell but over the years I've learned to appreciate it a lot more. Just sitting, discussing about local history I had no idea about and taking few glasses of whiskey.

I've gotten videogames for Christmas for years. I think it's quite likely I'll be getting The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (the GameCube version no less) and possibly Super Meat Boy. I can remember getting stuff like Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge, Ms. Pac-Man: Quest for the Golden Maze, and Extremely Goofy Skateboarding for Christmas as a kid.

007: NightFire marked a fitting end to my childhood.

I even got Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Limited Edition out of the deal! (It came with a zombie action figure!)

I play videogames with my family during the holidays. Christmas is about spending time together, it doesn't matter if it's videogames or board games as long as everyone is having fun.

My attitude towards Christmas has changed, but that's due to family drama and not games.

My family doesn't play board games anymore, i sometimes play video games with my brother but that's about it.Christmas is less of a big deal then it was when i was younger, maybe it can be rekindled in my later years but for now the only family stuff we do is Christmas shopping and watching the queens speech which i am not particularly fond of...

The deal with our grandparents and cousins is essentially the same as it was when i was younger, avoid them as much as possible save for the three that we like.
