I've never really understood the getting banned thing. Surely it's better to just leave and have the option of coming back when you feel like it rather than just get yourself banned.

People tend to do things that seem stupid in hindsight when they're feeling down. And loneliness does indeed suck.
Only rejoin the group if you feel like it. No point doing it because other people want you to. You'll just end up feeling like crap because you don't want to be there.
