That really sums it up, doesn't it?

Considering their stock just jumped and they have an actual cashflow now, this actually could be the thing that saves THQ.

Now, if only they'd add S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games half-way in.

I feel the same. THQ has been responsible for some very well done games, and i don't know where people get off saying that they are a scummy company like EA. Darksiders 2 is a borderline masterpiece, Metro 2033 is about the only true hardcore survival game to come out in ages, and even though Saints Row 3 was a much lesser product than SR2, it is still a better game than most releases by many accounts in terms of variety and overall stuff to do.

I've already purchased my bundle, hoping that every little bit does allow THQ to stay in the race until their big releases like Metro Last light come out to hopefully bring in decent profits for them.

Also, im not one to thing that big name companies, or any company, for that matter, needs to be defended. They have PR departments for that. But THQ's just always kind of been there, it'd be a shame to see it go, especially with them having a lot of promising IPs under their belt. Think of the sequels, the sequels!

Since THQ owns the license, it's always been a tiny hope of mine to see them release a Warhammer MMO-RTS game. Due to their financial voes, I haven't been particularly hopeful about it but if this drive can get that company started again; I suppose anything can happen.

Desperation or not, my childhood friend gifted it to me. Thanks to Metro 2033, I have greatly neglected my studies.

*Bang bang!* GRENADE!! *runs away and straight into a nosealis* SPLAT!. I keep imagining the words floating up.

Great fun

Well, those games were missing from my PC collection so was well worth the £3.85 it cost to get them all.

I good to see that most ppl aren't hating on the evil publisher but want they to survive. I do too since they have made or published some great games ie Relic's Dawn of War Series, Space Marine 40K, Company of Heroes, Metro, Darkstalkers and I want them to continue making them.

It's rather annoying seeing publishers like THQ and Sega going down the pan while Activition and EA continue to prosper putting out the same crap year in year out.

Actually, that's not unfortunate. I hear the game was mediocrity on a stick.
Calling RAGE mediocre is being far far too kind.

Sure, its not [Prototype] bad, but when a 20 hour game turns into a total grindfest after a tenth of its gametime (making it feel a whole hell of a lot longer) then you know theres something wrong with it.
So there is something wrong with nearly every RPG I ever played then. Including DA:O, Mass Effect, NWN, Baldurs Gate 2, Ultima series etc. Because 90% of the actual length of those games comes from grinding through hordes of the same enemies to reach the one NPC / enemy that matters.

On Topic: Already bought it. Nice games for a few bucks, Wynaut?
The thing is, Rage isn't an RPG. Its just a straightforward FPS. If there was some kind of levelling system to it, it wouldn't have been so bad, but there isn't. Which is why it felt like such a grind.

I think an EA Humble Bundle (Though the thought of EA ever being humble in any way is laughable) would be the first bundle whos average was around 5 cents instead of 5 dollars :p
Actually, I think the average price would be record high.... it's just that people would give all the money to charities and Humble Bundle Inc., leaving EA with $0 :p

Been pondering if I should get this one or not for the past two days.
Already own two of the games(Darksiders and Metro) and I'm not the least bit intrested in Red Faction Armageddon, Company of Heroes and it's expansions. Since I'm a console gamer and not a fan of digital purchases I'd prefer having Saints Row 3 on my PS3, should I ever want it in the first place.

I'd like THQ to stick around longer, but I think I'll pass.

1. Please don't malign me. I did not call them evil. If you are speaking generally, don't use it to justify arguing over my far more reasonable complaint: that they suck.

2. Being dead will do these franchises far more good as THQ is likely to sell off those assets, where the current state of disuse or grasping at straws is not a good place to be. I know, I know, I must be some sort of virtual nostradamus to figure that one out.

3. Valve sucks. Their monopolistic behaviours make them worse than just about any other publisher out there...they're still not evil, though.

...Unless my suspicion that Steam's EULA including the right to the soul of your firstborn is part of a diabolic plot to raise F'paggal from the pit of one thousand dooms....

I'd get the bundle because I love Saints Row and Company of Heroes but I have a mac and I don't see myself getting a PC anytime soon.
When I saw the post for this on Facebook from the Humble Bundle page, I was about to buy it and then I saw the huge "Windows only" banner on the site. :(

Hey, their stock rose 40% after the announcement! Not that it's saying much because 40% of $1.40 is $0.48 but still.
Still this had me laughing for a while :D

I was speaking generally, although I still say that -to me personally- THQ doesn't
suck, they have put out enough good games -by my personal standards- to not want them to go away in spite of poor choices they may have made.

There is zero reason to be confident that any of these franchises will continue to exist at all if THQ goes down, let alone that titles under new management would be any good.

so far over 600K downloads. i decided to pay $10 with the default split, figuring i kinda wanted Metro already so it was a much better deal if i ever want to play SR3.

Seeing as how I kind of wanted to get all of the games (except Red Faction) at some point, $5.25 was a damned good price.

It's actually a little scary to me that a company that not long ago seemed to be doing well (financially) is suddenly so desperate. I'm not too concerned about THQ specifically, but this does shed light on the difficulties a lot of developers are having staying afloat, which lead to many of the things gamers hate (sequalization, nickle and dime dlc, etc). Not saying these things are justified, just saying that they happen.

This is where you and I differ. I say they MADE good games. Which is why I'm not one to prop up their current model of making franchises I like into shit.

There is zero reason to be confident that any of these franchises will continue to exist at all if THQ goes down, let alone that titles under new management would be any good.
They have some strong-selling franchises, and the industry has been quick to pick up popular franchises.

That's plenty of reason to believe. It's not hard proof, but neither is that what you asked for.

As for the titles under new management being any good, I refer you to my prior statement about quality. If they suck, it'll be a lateral move. I have nowhere to go but up.

I mean, what are they going to do? Radically change established characters? Kill off major players? Alter the way the games play out? Gut the content to package DLC?

Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt.
