I thought the Water Temple in Majora's Mask (and the boss that came with it) was much harder than the Water Temple in Ocarina. Maybe it's just me.

How about the level in Super Mario World (can't remember if it's the first one or the second one) where you first get Yoshi?

I wouldn't call it "iconic", I don't think, but the opening of Resident Evil 4, when you first arrive in the main village area is pretty memorable.

Oh, can't believe I forgot this one... Thief III: The friggin Cradle.
Good lord, I can't agree more on this one. That level was amazing.

There's a level in Ace Combat 2 (and I believe it was down again in the sequels) where you had to fly through a tight canyon to attack a target. Screaming through a teeny tiny canyon at Mach 2 is such an amazing rush.

Chozo Overworld from Metroid Prime. What can be more iconic that crash landing on a wonderful world, lush with vegetation, rain pouring off your visor and a wonderfully operatic version of the metroid theme slowly kicking in.

From Goldeneye, pretty much the iconic level is either Dam or Facility. For me its Siberia or Bunker 1/2. Those were some very fine levels.

Resident Evil 2 when you enter the police station for the first time, the music sets the mood perfectly after you had to fight your way into police station.

I really should play RE2 again

The first level of Fallout 1. Leaving the Vault for the VERY first time when you don't know how the game will turn out.

Altered Beast Level 1 is pretty famous as well, or infamous because that game is good for some but others think it is rubbish.

First level of Doom is pretty famous too I bet.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney's first level is probably famous now too.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time's first level is a seared childhood memory.

You know and love them. These are the World 1-1's of game levels. These are the most memorable levels in any game. When you think of a game, this is the level you think off. For me, I choose the Milkman's Mind in Psychonauts. This was one of the levels in the game where there was almost no combat. Just simple adventuring. It was also one of the funniest levels in the game. The fact that a Gman can see you as a hot housewife by holding a rolling pin is astounding.
Can't forget the homicidal den mother.
The Milkman and Lungfish levels from Psychonauts are my top two.

Finding out I was Revan in KOTOR, fantasic plot twist.
And as for Pychonauts who could forget stomping around a city of lungfish being called Gargalor.
Yeah, being Goggalor was cool, too. Although, I still have yet to beat the game, so I might just find a better level. Right now I'm in the Bonaparte Reltives level. Once I finish that, my disguise will be finished.
Good luck, I got to the second to third last level then gave up because it suddenly got stupidly difficult and I hadn't bothered to collect anything so was woofully underpowered. I watched the end videos on youtube though, cause I'm cool.

I really enjoyed Bonaparte's level, it was something a little different to the usual.
Well, at this point I'm around rank 70, with only one scavenger hunt item left to find, and most camp areas cleared of Psi Card, Challenge Markers, and Scavenger Hunt Items. I heard how hard the game gets, so I decided to try and do everything I could to help make it a tad bit less hard.

That pond you sat it in Duck Hunt on the NES. I challange you to find someone who plays games and is over 21 that won't instantly recognize that.

(I'm going to be eating those words later)

Rainbow Road on just about any Mario Kart, but for the sakes of picking favorites. Super Mario Kart.

Good thinking ahead skills, me, I just thought why bother? And continued with the story. Think I might start a new game and replay the whole thing. Got to finish Crysis first though, then Beyond Good and Evil. I'm in the habit of not finishing games, they don't draw me in anymore.

Now I'm pissed off at the damn game, because the game gives you no indication that once you save Lili, you can't go back to the camp.

Not a level so much as a scene, but the opening to Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy.

Just the amount of choice was boggling, and the psychological theories running through my mind when I started the game...

Lovely.
