I can get away with sleeping for eight hours, for I will wake well rested.
I can get away with sleeping for seven hours, for it is practically eight.
I can get away with sleeping for six hours, for I slept for nine over the weekend.
I can get away with sleeping for five hours, for I can nap later in the day.
I can get away with sleeping for four hours, for I can binge on sleep the next night.
I can get away with sleeping for three hours, for coffee can easily sustain me.
I can get away with sleeping for two hours, for enough coffee can keep me awake.
I can get away with sleeping for one hour, for enough coffee can keep me alive.
I can get away with working through the night, for sleep has now become trivial.

That's nice, but false. If you've got a bout of insomnia, sleep won't come to you so trying to sleep would be pointless. For those who simply keep themselves awake, there may be more logic behind it, such as "If I get 6 hours of sleep, I'll feel sick in the morning as opposed to getting 5 hours of sleep and just being fairly tired."

I can't fall asleep so I might as well sit on the computer is my logic. Though getting better at falling asleep earlier.

...I'm not sure what the question is here.
It isn't a question, just a joke.

I was musing about the magical abilities of justification that people can summon when doing things late at night. Then I began to wonder what the logical process would be, step by step.

And here it is (my interpretation)

I'll admit, I do this occasionally.

But I would never stay up too late when I have something
important happening the next day. Speaking of which...

I just managed to pull another late night. Off to bed with me.

..
I'm so terrible.

I like your justifications. I use them every night when thinking 'why not stay up 1 more hour,or 30 more minutes' until it is like 2:30 in the morning.

Eh, I've learned to subsist for months at a time on four hours of sleep per day, broken up into sixteen breaks, each fifteen minutes long.

...glad I don't have to do that anymore.

Speaking of insomniacs, anybody have tip for when night has become day and day has become night for you?

4.30am in Blighty, and I can fully justify why I'm still awake. I have an exam at 9.30am, and after working yesterday evening until 10pm, plus revising, I won't get up in time and will miss my exam if I go to sleep. So I'm spending the night awake instead. I'll do some revision before the sun rises, then simply revise until my exam starts. I can always sleep after the exam, and spend the day in bed. Or, as I have work tonight as well, wait, drink coffee and buy caffeine pills from the student union shop, then go to work and sleep afterwards, and have a big lie-in on Thursday morning as I have no more exams or commitments that day :D.

I came into this thread thinking you were trying to justify why there are so many damn ratchet and clank games. but this was entertaining too.
