I sometimes think the greatest, and most enduring, evil wrought by the internet is the power some folks think they possess because on anonymity. Flames spew from faceless posts with no sense of repercussions or empathy for the people that are behind the avatars.

It has allowed some folks to take a step towards that disconnect between themselves and others and let the worse aspects of themselves come out because the person on the other side of the monitor isn't "real" to them.
