Ha ha, no, no it is not worth what Apple is charging for it. The iPad is the very definition of style over substance, and you pay a hefty premium for your 'cool' little gadget that seems to be missing all the features any tech-savvy individual would want in a tablet PC.

Fortunately for Apple, they do not market their devices to tech-savvy people, preferring to aim directly at hipsters and the technically clueless instead. Seems to work for them well enough, so more power to them. I'll just be over here snickering at anyone who buys one.

Uhmmmm, when have Apple products ever been worth it?
In my book, never. Sure they all work together, for a price. I love my Zune and have never thought of buying an ipod, or i*

To me an ipad is just another useless object from Apple. Id rather spend the money on a Netbook that can multitask and has the ability to play flash pages as well.

I also agree with "Gildan Bladeborn"

They aim for the trendy hipsters and people who are technologically clueless for the most part. I'm not a follower like most Apple users are. I don't see why someone would get an iPad except to burn a hole in their wallet

is it worth 500-600 dollars to me?

No.

But I definitely will be watching the price point carefully, and if it drops around 200-250, I just might consider it.

I have a tendency of condemning any apple product as inefficient
so if you listen to me, I'd say no it isn't worth it

You'd be better off with a Laptop,iPhone or even an iPod touch in my opinion.

Nope not worth it. Buy an Itouch or Iphone instead if your set on buying Apple. And to that guy who made a tampon reference. It's getting kind of old.

The only time I would consider buying this thing is if they create a USB glove peripheral that will clean itself and the screen as well as turning my hand invisible. After all, who would sacrifice their cheetos and pizza eating habit for the sake of playing computer and who can think of having a mouse attach to an arm covering the lower right end of the screen to its current clicky-position is a great novelty?

I have been cursed you see I...( dramatic pause) was born in augest. Woah is me! Hump month! Literally nothing happens in augest. End of summer, yet still not close enough to holiday season or at least 4q. No movies come out. All my favorite bands are off tour so no concerts. And yes, I am awhere mafia 2 is in augest, but it comes out a day after my birthday. (bonus points for what my b day is. Simple math people) so that leves me with slot of extra cash. At first, I didn't give the ipad a second glance. Which is why it's shocking that the thing to interest me is something I care little about. Tv. Modern family showed it's extremely diverse in features. People I look up too love it(Stephen colbear, Philly D). So now I'm intrigued. It's able to hold Alot of songs, multiple movies, n
Books, games and more. But I'm not sure about it entirely. Is it true their is a version with 3g that can have Internet access absolutely anywhere (obviously within reason)? So are their any people who have one? Who here really likes them? Money is not a huge problem. I understand a good version is around 300. So can anyone give me a reason to buy?
I would take that money and invest in a spell checker, or a grammar camp, or Hooked on Phonics.
I could hardly get through your paragraph.

OT: It depends on what you are using it for. I recommend watching this video, it sums up why the iPad was a bad idea pretty well.
(I know its long but it is really interesting so watch it anyway)
Clicky Click
I did this on an Ipod touch. Which just made me want a bigger screen and smarter tech.

Definitely not. Might be fun to have for a couple of weeks but I'm sure you'll grow tired of it quickly.

I was unaware the cash you get for your birthday only lasts till the end of that day. If so, I think I have lost far too much money than I'd be willing to lose. I'd hold the money aside for future and worthwhile expenses if I were you.

All the features that light but still-too-bulky-to-take-everywhere-with-you can be found in cheaper machinery, most likely minus the rotating screen and the app store but that's not such a big loss.

Not to mention that Hackaday has featured both a home made iPad imitation with much better hardware for a lower price as well as a JooJoo, which is also an iPad imitation with better hardware (not to mention it's held closed with screws so you can easily swap its RAM and harddrive) that should be available in stores.
The only advantage Apple's tablet has is that it probably can survive a drop or two more than the others.

Note that the cheapest iPad is $500 in the States, add over $300 and you get the most expensive version. This is according to the Apple website.

NO.

Until the homebrew community grows and grows like it has for the iPhone, then I'll get one at a cheaper price. Besides first generation Apple hardware always sucks.
