Alex Mason from CoD: Black Ops. Why did it have to remind so much of Alec Mason from Red Faction. Couldnt they have named him Dirk Fist instead (ZP)

Paxton Fettel from F.E.A.R. I don't know what it is about his name but it's just ridiculous. Whenever I've talked about this topic with my mates we always end up agreeing that Paxton is clearly the worst.

Lloyd Irving, anyone? Despite sharing a first name, I can't help but concede how utterly lame and unthreatening this name is. Just, no.

Deathwing, I mean really. Blizzard is usually so damn good at names and writing amazing lore/storylines, but I mean come on, they named a fucking giant earth dragon, the "aspect of death" who's trying to bring about the end of days, deathwing.

It's like a kids TV show all of a sudden, made all the more dissapointing considering how boss his trailer is.
His real name is Neltharion.

I mean, I think it's better than Neferian, now that is a TERRIBLE name.

Dr. Eggman. Maybe it makes sense in Japan, but I can't really follow the fact that the most evil thing about this vile dictator is that he's FAT.
Especially coming from such an inventive name as Dr. Robotnik.

Well his real name is Neltharion...

Which in itself is also a pretty cool name, sort of begs the question of why people insist on deathwing. Unfortunately the WoW lore machine is a beast of a thing, so It's probly wise not to try and reason with it.
Deathwing is Netharions father.

Master Chief really sticks out...I mean really? Couldn't give him a name, just two titles of superiority and call it good? Then there's the overly corny code names like Soap, Ghost, even Ramirez was off.
Technically, Master Chief is short for the his rank in the UNSC Navy, Master Chief Petty Officer. It is a real rank in the US Navy and Coast Guard. His real name is John, supposedly it is a Biblical reference, like several names in the Halo series.

Soap McTavish probably, though Starkiller comes a close second.

[sub]I tried thinking of some older characters' names, but nothing came to mind. Help, anyone?[/sub]

Fayt Leingod, from the third Star Ocean game.
Fayt? Really? Fayt? They might as well have named him Not-so-subtle-hint-that-this-character-is-fated-to-save-the-Universe Leingod. Seriously, how lacking in ideas do you have to be to just throw the word fate in as the main character's name?

Solid Snake.

Just, what the hell?

[sub]Yes, I know the character is a direct reference to Snake Plissken from Escape from New York. Doesn't explain why his name is a dick joke.[/sub]
Don't forget that this is a Hideo Kojima game. I'd put my money on that name being an innuendo of some sort. Kojima's a weird guy.

There was an RPG on the N64 where the main character was called Brian.

Seriously, who wants to be in a fantasy world with a name like Brian?

Master Chief = Master Chief Petty Officer, the official silliest military rank in the universe - but still a real rank.

OT: STARKILLER. Smacks of trying too hard to make something badass.
