Well, I have been fliting between games recently because I have had some time off, but this is a list of the last 5 I played through properly.
Metro 2033 (X360) - (arrives tomorrow)
Alien vs Predator (PS3) - If you love the original films, this game is a must-buy the pulse rifle will give you a nerdgasm, it really will. Also all the achivements are one liners from the film. You play a guy, who ain't got time to bleed, its old school, not in the slightest bit scary, but it is supreme fun.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (PS3) - The campaign is good fun, not as murderously difficult as Modern Warfare so thats a bonus, but the multiplayer is a completely different story. The levels are very large, which leads to many many different tactics available. Its a very team orientated game, thats where the big points are, so it encourages you to not just stick to infantry, though I must admit thats where I get the most sucess. I had not experienced a Battlefield game until now, but it makes Modern Warfare look like unreal tournament by comparison. Rush mode really replicates the ebb and flow of battle, stemming the tide of an ever advancing enemy and defending your bases, very cool. Curiously I have a much higher K/D ratio on Battlefield than on MW, usually over 1:1 whereas with MW it barely scraped 0.6. Perhaps that game just suits my playstyle better, or perhaps people are just better at MW!
Split/Second (PS3) - This was an unusal purchase for me, I don't go in for racing games much, but I was completely sold once I saw the number of explosions in this game. (It's true) It's such a unique feature, to set off the environment to slow down your opponents, it shouldnt work, it should be clumsy - but it is just brilliant.
Darkstar One (PC) - This was a steam sale purchase and the best £2 I have ever spent. It has SO much content, star system after star system, the ability to customise your ship however you want, turn it into a lightning fast fighter or a armor plated behemoth, whatever you like. The combat never gets old either, blowing up alien ships is always fun... reminds me of Star Trek: Invasion... that takes me back.
Unreal Tournament 3 (PS3) - This was one I had intended to get for a while, but never got round to it. Nothing quite compares to this in terms of rewarding kills. Lighting fast pace, satisfying weapons which are properly balanced, varying degrees of idiot bots to kill, (leading to some hilarious moments of your team jamming a tank in the base's entrance. Hilarious for my friend with his team of bots which came storming in and destroyed my primary node that is) If you like shooting things, you need this game in your life.... double kill! multi kill! ULTRA KILL! M-M-MONSTER KILL!!!
