I think it would be really amazing to get a bunch of post atomic war survivors to actually sit down to play any board game, the loser is lunch since you know cannibalism will rise in that time.

but Go is definitely a candidate.
Why would the piece have to be round? You could use any black and white stones of appropriate size.

You don't really need round pieces. You just need a bunch of similarly sized pieces in two colours.
