Just a simple question for you Escapist folks.

Mine would have to be Super Mario Galaxy. That game was most certainly fun to play, for several reasons which I'm sure you're aware of: gravity effects, celestial theme, and so on.

Asteroids...

I kid. I just played Witcher for the second time and enjoyed it. Not sure it was the most fun I have played recently, but it's right up there. Burning through Company of Heroes right now and it seems pretty damn good despite having played through the single player campaign numerous times.

Orcs & Elves DS, great retro RPG experiance like Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder and a very well done control sheme made it very enjoyable for me.

Its like a turnbased Doom with fantasy setting. (Hint : id Software made it ^^) I never even hope to get this kind of game on a handheld that might be flooded with sucky jrpgs.

It was a little bit short, but I am going to give it more then a second round, so for only 25 bucks, more then worthy.

Everything in The Orange Box. Mainly Team Fortress 2.

I was just taking a break from play Star Control 2 however.
That game is a classic.

As far as just having fun, I had a ton of fun playing SMG, Ghost Squad (dual Wiimote-weilding rules), and Portal most recently. They're not just addicting, challenging, whatever, but purely FUN to play, I found. Would love to play Everyday Shooter, looks like pure fun as well (no PS3 :( ).

I'd have to say the Orange Box. But that goes without saying. Bioshock was also great fun. The sheer fact that it was freaky as all hell but in a comic sort of way. I really loved that feeling. It was fun to explore all the little knoks and cranies.

Puzzle Quest. Just started playing it in the last couple of days, and it's an absolute blast. Highly recommended.

Jeez...I almost forgot about Bioshock. I never got to play the System Shock games but I was still looking forward to Bioshock nonetheless.

And it really didn't disappoint. It was a gorgeous and actually disturbing game next to the Silent Hill franchise.
I just wish they had more "RPG" in it like it's predecessors.
That would have given it much more replay value.

I just made it to finish in Tetris DS the 200rows marathon mode. I stacked the blocks so high, that I made row 200 with the last block available before crushing. I never had so much adrenaline in my veins since months. xD

Intresting fact :

My best try without any music : 100 rows
with the Tetris DS music : 130 rows
with Tschaikowsky music : 160 rows
with Wagner music : 200 rows

How is that? I loved the Kingdom Under Fire series but this looks too close to Dynasty Warriors. 1 man (or lady) vs everything while only tapping the one button until either A) Your thumb breaks or B) you controller breaks.

There are a few games I've been enjoying, but for pure smile-on-face fun, I found a patch so I could finally play Quest for Glory V on my XP computer, and played through it last year. A wonderful end to my favourite series.

Its hardly to beleive you do better with Tschaikowsky then Wagner.

Also, Portals

Sam and Max episodes, sure they got repetitive after a while but I loved the humour and thinking of which item I should use to solve something and of course the fact that there was no tedious look, push, talk, etc interface.

STALKER and Super Mario Galaxy are my honourable mentions. For me there are broad lines between fun, addictive, average and boring.

Tekken: Dark resurrection. I dunno why, but even after a month or 10 or something, it's still fun to delude your opponents(Even if they're CPU ones T_T).

I haven't played this one for a long while, but i remember enjoying sonic rush, ALOT. Not the adventure one, haven't played it. But i would so want that game back(it gotten stolen, unfortunately. shit happens, i guess.).

Now that you mention it, I can't really think of one other than TF2, and that's only because people saying 'The Orange Box' reminded me. I'm still yet to play Bioshock or ANYTHING new because of a problem with my registry not recognising when DVDs are DVDs and just assume they're CDs. Pff. I've only just recently played Beneath a Steel Sky and I enjoyed it a lot. I found out it was freeware and couldn't resist :D Next up is Flight of the Amazon Queen.

Also, Portals
Tschaikowsky : "Violinkonzert op. 35D-Dur" & "Souvenir d´un lieu cher" (has boring, silent parts)
Wagner : "Der Ring des Nibelungen" (without vocals)

I prefer the "blast" that is in Wagners music like "Ride of the Valkyrie", it keeps me pushed and focused.
