Rosario + Vampire, its not a total train wreck like the anime. Other than that most of Sekrei.

Last manga I have read would be the third book from the Naruto series, a long time ago. I just don't have the money to keep up with a series in manga format, so I watch already finished Anime.

Yeah the anime's ending wasn't necessarily good, but the manga did drag after that point. I stopped reading a few volumes after the War in the North (or whatever) arc.
Pretty much what I did, got to chapter 97 or something, I vaguely remember clare dying and then not being dead about 3 times in 2 chapters. Pretty much defines what went wrong: it started act 3 way too early, and couldn't reel it back in, so what got stuck in a perma act 3. Got old quick. A shame really, I really liked Clare's character.
Clare was the reason I was interested in the first place. She was so mysterious and then... nothing... lol? I think they lost sight of what made the story interesting and spent way too much time on silly nonsensical plot twists. What the hell was up with the island being like a testing ground or whatever?
.
It's like that there are two warring nations, one is human and the other is beast. The Beast one is naturally superior in every way but the Human one uses science to create monsters to fight them. They use the island as their site to develop and test new weapons. Awaken Ones are weapons that are created on that Island and then shipped directly into the front lines to combat the giant beast creatures.

It felt annoying because now we know that there is no f*cking way for a happy ending.

I don't know, I thought that was silly. Unfortunately, the manga that completely rip off are inspired by Claymore also take that bit as well, in my experience. I think her story was told well enough, just there wasn't enough, so we got to the war in the north, and there was nothing left to tell after that, just hatred for whats-her-face. From where I got to, that confrontation was done better in the anime.
I don't even remember the confrontation in the manga version honestly. I get to the badass Altered Beast Lion-guy fight and then my memory gets fuzzy.
For what it's worth, here's how I remember. Likely just as fuzzy to be honest.
They take some pills to pretend they're dead, then a time jump happens, like 2 years or something, and they're all like, we have to supress our.. monster powers, so we have these new abilities we learnt off of the characters who got curbstomped. Hooray, a new progression of power! and then 3 chapters later, they said 'balls to it' and stopped hiding for some really silly reasons, so all the things they learnt were for moot.

Meanwhile, the king of the north got completely owned by zombies, and the zombies were going berserk (here's where my memory *really* goes fuzzy). Then priscilla, who rockee was protecting for some really arbitrary reasons, predictably goes nuts and starts owning stuff, including that female creature of the abyss.

Beth and her twin die somehow, the 5th most powerful kills her sister and turns into a massive creature that blows everything up in a 100 mile radius, repeatedly, and then turns everyone into zombies. Rockee resists through willpower. Priscilla goes towards the centre, and clare's like 'I will stop you if it kills me!' and she dies in an explosion, and then she's like 'lol, jk I'm alive' - this happens another couple times, that's where I stopped.

Missing where the 3rd most powerful claymore who lost her eyes, and that young claymore who has another claymore constantly sucking at her breast went. Oh, and Teresa cameos in there somehow.

Haha, yeah I guess there's that. Though I always kind of figured Clare would have a bittersweet ending at least. There is no way that kid makes it through the whole series alive.

To be fair, there was no way there was going to be a happy ending anyway. The fate of all claymore is basically to go monster, it's presented to be dark and Everyone Can Die right from the beginning. Really, the idea of a happy ending should of been a pipe dream for everyone after finding out about Teresa.

Teresa cameo doesn't surprise me. I bet she'll come back from the dead and turn out to be like some super-monster zombie final boss or some shit.

I am reading the new Full Metal Panic.

I miss the old days where Sagura pulls a weapon on random people in Japan or helps the Yakuza using giant mouse suits. It got REALLY dark, really fast.

The cameo happened in a flashback, it felt really out of place. And yeah, I can easily see that actually happening, they have the tools to let it happen, they just need the corpse.

Teresa's head grows back from Clare's neck. This practically writes itself!

...It's really says something about the quality of the manga (at the end that is) when I wouldn't raise an eyebrow at that happening. I'd love to see a gif of that happening though.

If you only count Japanese stuff, it's Mahou sensei Negima. While I liked the series, the ending was absolute and utter shit.

Actually that little kid turned out to be quiet the bad-ass with a sword that had reached a very high level of proficiency and can challenge any HUMAN combatant.
