So I'm going to leave Amnesia out because I'm jealous... my laptop can't run it.

That said, the last time for me was while I played Dead Space 2 and encountered a Divider. I fucking hate those things. That was months ago, disappointingly. No game has really scared me since then.

Can't remember honestly. I got so jaded and immune to horror games and movies.
That includes amnesia.

Penumbra; it's Amnesia in modern times. (Seriously, it's made by the same people, I think the second in the Penumbra series is scarier than Amnesia, you can pick up the whole 3 game series on Steam for 20 USD and it only requires a 1.6 GHZ processor; I can run it on my computer from 1998. Get it, NOW!) But, if that doesn't count, then I suppose KotoR, where a clipping error somehow caused a Gommorean to appear out of my character's nose as soon as I attempted to open a food locker.

Pinwheel's intro in Dark Souls.
Not even a hard boss, but his intro just really fucking scared me. No idea why.

Amnes... Oh.

Well, fine. Condemned.

It only had one decent scare, but damn it was a good one. The dummies. Brrrrr.

That's about it. Sadly, most horror games aren't that scary. Bioshock had some lovely scripted moments, but they were more jumps than actual scares. Dead Space and FEAR are weaksauce.

Oh I loved the way they did those - that was very brilliantly done. I'm sad not many things do that much.

OT: I actually can't think of any. I hardly play horror games because I'm a big baby.

Everyone remembers the Chainsaw guy from Resident Evil 4. I had myself bunkered up in a house, I could hear is chainsaw revving,, but I had no idea where he was. I looked around me, but he was nowhere to be seen, and I don't know how, but I guess he DBZ teleported behind me and gave me the scare of my life.

Also, I'm playing the visual novel Chaos;Head atm. So far there were a couple of moments that really scared the living shit out of me in all the colours the rainbow has to offer. That game is making me more paranoid by the minute, even more than the main character himself.

I wasn't even scared by Amnesia. I kept throwing objects around and I think it spooked the ghosts.

The Deathclaws in Fallout New Vegas scared me, however. So powerful, so dangerous, so horrific... and they can just appear out of nowhere.

Minecraft. I've just finished the basic construction of my base in my new world - with tunnels running off in each direction NSEW at differing levels, and I've had a few nervous moments as I trotted along those long long tunnels...

Minecraft doesn't pace itself. You can wander around underground for hours and barely encounter a single monster, or you can break into a new cavern and find yourself swarmed by hordes. Getting lost in the depths of the earth, running out of torches, your last pick is almost gone and you've eaten all your food... and hearing the sounds of monsters and knowing they're out there, in the dark... somewhere. It's the stuff of nightmares, and it's the only game I've ever played where I will watch the sun going down with a feeling of aprehension if I'm outside and far from civilisation.

NIGHTMARE HOUSE 2 HOLY SHIT!

^Yeah. It's a Half Life 2 mod that screams "I want to be silent hill" but it works. It's set in a Hospital called "Never Lose Hope Hospital" and it's not that the creatures are scary: it's the fact that your worst enemy is the hospital itself, which is what made the silent hill games scary...at least the older ones...

But yes, if you have half life 2 and want to be scared (or rather, if you have any game with which you can download source sdk), you should play this game :p
