Last week I was running through Far Cry 2, innocently running over zebras and attacking camps, the usual. But then someting happened. Something exploded...and I flinched. It occured to me then how remarkable it was that I had been so lost in the game for such a while. I actually felt like I was part of the game world, exploring the jungles of Africa. So tell me, when was the last time you were immersed in a game, or any moment or game that stood out in particular.

Probably Dead space 2, you get so involved in the story during the game that you actually care what happens to the characters, thats unheard of for me to say the least.

Demon's Souls. The level of concentration needed to play that game is immense, because if you falter, even for a second, that game will fuck. You. Up.

Heavy Rain.

By far the most immersive game I've ever played. When you took a punch, you really felt like you were taking a punch.

Minecraft. When you spend so much time building your secret underground lair, only for some green incarnation of evil to explode, killing you and spawning you so far away you might never find it again, you feel a genuine sense of loss...

Prototype, Being totally in tune with everything going on, only to be ambushed by huge creatures that throw me across the map ruins the scenery and makes me jump

Exactly this, only luckily I built a monumental lighthouse to guide me back every time.

Dragon Age: Origins. Not really that big of a fan now, due to overplaying at first, but played it for 36 hours over a span of 48 hours. I was really sick so not much else to do.

Felt really weird talking to real people again after that because I had no menu to pick from and had to listen to my own voice.

I got pretty immersed in Dead Space 2 but the last time I was really fully immersed in a game, feeling for the characters and being in awe of the world to the point that I never wanted to leave, would be in Mafia II. That game had the most wonderful setting, fantastic story and voice acting. I loved, and still love, every second of that beautiful piece of artwork

That would probably be Demons Souls. It's amazing what an intense, constant fear of dying does for the immersion. The Prison level is especially guilty of this. As soon as you hear those little bells ringing, you'll go into a minor panic and get sucked straight through the screen. The perfectly executed atmosphere doesn't hurt either.

Alan Wake, anyone? That game just sucks you in!
Idk, i found that game fairly bland, basically waving a flashlight around to defeat enemys, not saying its a bad game, just not my type to suck myself into the game

Persona 3 Portable. Persona is the most immersive game ever. You actually feel like you're the protagonist the way they allow you to interact with the NPCs
