I'm using the Assassins Creed 2 one right now to find all the feathers. its a right pain in the arse but i dont think i would be even halfway through without the guide
I used it for about 40 of them - other than that, I haven't used a guide since I was about 8.

If someone could tell me where the fun is in being told how to do things I'd love to know.

The other day I saw someone talk about how they were so passionate about a game they read every guide and all the hints and tips for it; surely if you were the passionate, you'd work it out for yourself?
While I agree, I can think of exceptions.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion are two games I played right through and 'finished' without any help or guides, but I doubt I would ever have discovered many of the small, deeply hidden gems in those games without the strategy guides which I got after owning each for a month or two.

For example, the quest in Oblivion where you have to find all of the Ayleid statues in random ruins for that rich guy... a big Ayleid cookie for anyone who has done that quest without a guide.

Mass Effect, using the wiki site for only the uncharted planets and using the map to get all the resources.

Oblivion it was a very long time ago. I find that using dulls the game from what it should be.

Sam & Max Season One, Episode 6. Even though I love point-and-click games I usually always end up consulting a guide.

Never. Such occasion where I can't get through a certain point in a game hasn't yet occurred. Neither would I allow myself to read walkthroughs. Just not my thing, but I certainly do not blame anyone for doing that, unless it's lead to boasting about some great achievements, which isn't that admirable itself.

On the ship, in a room where you climb a bunch of pipes and have to wall run, then jump sideways and backwards onto a red bar.

Was stuck on that for 2 hours.
Is that what you do? I'm stuck there, I think. Some room, think it is green, and you need to get to some random vent or something really high up. Can't figure it out.

Yeah, the room was green and white. You have to climb to the top, run along the wall then aim kind of into it and jump the other direction.

It was a control mechanic that was only used in that particular section.

...Painkiller. I had no idea I had to shoot the statues that regenerated Alastor's health.

I couldn't figure out how to kill The False King.
Same, but I needed to know the attributes of the BlueBlood Sword, and where to upgrade to it.

Isn't it made with the Broken Sword? I can't figure out how to get them to make stuff for me.

Two hours ago while playing the nameless mode for Deus Ex (yeah, the first one).
I had to find out why, all of a sudden, my ennemy was giving me out useful infos: turns out I was going the wrong way (curiosity killed the cat and JC Denton) ^^.

Great mod though, spent the last three nights on it :-D

I know they're flash games but no matter how hard I try I can't get through Escape the Phone Booth or Escape the Bathroom, without the walkthroughs
