Assassin's Creed 2. I'm trying to find all the feathers. Finding them on my own would be too much work.

This seems to be the most commonly occuring one.

I think I found about 40% of them on my playthrough.

Surely they can't be as bad as the GTA4 pidgeons?

Trilby's Notes by the Escapists own Yahtzee Crowshaw. Chzo Mythos is definitely my favorite adventure game series ever, but its hard as hell on occasion.

Oblivion, I mean fuck many of the quests really screwed up in one part that made them impossible. For example in The Spirits Have Lease quest I had no idea that you had to take the diary entry for the guy to agree to open the door. Also for the canvas quest to find the Bruma Countess's painting I never figured out to look at the Dinning room carpet, and recently the quest to find pale Pass, the stupid game didn't mark the first landmark on my map for some reason, so I had to look up a vid to see how to begin the quest.

COD4 (which I only recently played)

The Helicopter gunner mission. I kept on dieing in the first five minuets
Were you playing on a normal TV?

I found that mission hard until I got my HDTV and could actually see the tiny ant-like specks shooting RPGs at me.
Hahah, yea I was. So I guess that was my problem. I don't know how I got past that section, but it took me like 30 tries, not to mention I was playing on veteran.
COD on Veteran without HD is even more torturous than usual.

I commend you for your perseverance.

Have you tried the tank level in WAW on a normal TV? It's the exact opposite of fun.
I beat COD 2 on veteran, so I will not tolerate its children beating me. I've beaten both COD4 and COD5 on Veteran on my normal (non HD) TV, with the exception of the sniper level in COD4, but only because I didn't pick up a automatic weapon before the standoff part. So I just replayed it on Recruit.

Yea, the Tank level was also a *****.

You are a more patient man than I.

I gave up on COD WAW on Vet after one level, the grenade spam was just far too annoying, especially with such an inedequate grenade indicator.

I actually thought that the grenade spamming was much greater in COD4, but that might just be because I played through it more recently than COD5. I hated the American Levels in COD5, those Japanese were incredible sharpshooters.

I'm using the Assassins Creed 2 one right now to find all the feathers. its a right pain in the arse but i dont think i would be even halfway through without the guide
I used it for about 40 of them - other than that, I haven't used a guide since I was about 8.

If someone could tell me where the fun is in being told how to do things I'd love to know.

The other day I saw someone talk about how they were so passionate about a game they read every guide and all the hints and tips for it; surely if you were the passionate, you'd work it out for yourself?
While I agree, I can think of exceptions.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion are two games I played right through and 'finished' without any help or guides, but I doubt I would ever have discovered many of the small, deeply hidden gems in those games without the strategy guides which I got after owning each for a month or two.

For example, the quest in Oblivion where you have to find all of the Ayleid statues in random ruins for that rich guy... a big Ayleid cookie for anyone who has done that quest without a guide.
You know, I do actually think I finished that - I've got a vague memory of going to a ruin with Umbacano himself.

Bar the Arena Champion orc's quest to find his family, I think I've finished everything else.

Don't know why I never finished that one.

Professor Layton and pandoras box. There's a stupid puzzle about three idiots running for town mayor. My nephew couldn't work it out so I was like "I'll do it - no problem".

Had to use a frickin' guide... stupid puzzle. Or should that be stupid brain?

Uh, as best as I can remember, I used the Universal Hint System for Escape from Monkey Island several months back.

The fact I also had to use it for the previous two, as well as for Police Quest and Quest for Glory makes me wonder if adventure games are really for me...

First, if you went to a tomb with Umbucano that means you finished the fetch quests, in which case cookie for you for obviously sinking a buttload of time into such a great game. You obviously loved Tamriel as much as I did.

Second, the arena Grey Prince's quest regarding his family is really short and easy, and you get a very nice little stat boost at the end of it!

Resident Evil 4... it was one of my first games ever and I was too lazy to figure out the puzzles myself and I often got lost.

I had to work that one out in my head with my parents. That one was actually quite tough... the thing about that game is when you figure out the answer, you're like "Oh! I can't believe I couldn't figure that out!" The thing is... using a game guide is defeating the point of a puzzle game.

The Grey Prince one went to a fort I remember, which used to freak the shit out of me - so I think I thought, "I'll err... Yeah, that can wait 'til later..." xD

Heh, yeah those forts could be creepy. Especially ones involving Daedric quests.

I can't wait for TES5!
