Hard to say as it was in Dawn of War 2. The final skirmish saw my commander (presumably representing me on the battlefield) wielding a Plasma Rifle but I personally had at my disposal an army consisting of shotgun armed scouts, Bolter and flamer armed Tactical marines (there were lots of tyranids present and I've found the flamer is often your best bet if they favor the lesser horrors), a venerable Dreadnought and chainsword and powersword wielding assault marines.

The least awful thing on that list to face is the shotgun and that's small comfort.
