The creators responded? Link/source/what did they say??
Here's what I was talking about: http://bryankonietzko.tumblr.com/post/24721131897/my-first-web-comic-hope-you-trolls-like-it (Sorry for the off site link, its on Bryan Konietzko's tumblr) Final nail in the casket for me.
That seems like a response to actual trolls and not just anyone who has complaints about the show. Way to blow things out of proportion.

Makko is such a douche. I can't tell whether the writers actually expect us to like him or not, but nobody really should. He's an arse.

Bolin is the far more worthwhile brother, even if he is sadly relegated to comic relief.

What actual troll complains about 'high stakes'? The whole thing reads to me as a 'so there' to those critical and an arse pat for the creators. Also maybe it didn't come across in my prior posts but it was a final straw for me; insignificant and small compared to what annoyed me within the show, but the last bit of the load that broke the camel's back. I.E. my interest in watching further.

If you like the show there's nothing wrong with that. But it seems kind of silly to me to be this heated about someone else not liking it. Its not as if LoK is going to vanish because some people on the internet don't like it.

Has some humor
That really is the only redeeming part about any of korra
To be fair the progression of the setting is pretty cool. I do appreciate that the world didn't just arbitrarily not change during two generations, and the 1920s esque settings and technology blended with the cultural style of the four nations was pretty rad.

How are the gags doing in season two?

It's strange, because I like mostly everything about LoK, apart from Korra. She just seems to never learn/develop from what she was at the beginning of the show. In TLA, nearly EVERY character had some form of change or arc, but Korra never listens to anyone, and i'm starting to wonder if that's just her character, or lazy writing.

On a more Spoiler-y note:
I actually think Verrick being the villian was a good twist, it actually makes alot of sense as to how everything has been happening, and it also suggest his zany, over-the-top manner was a disguise to mask his true intentions, making noone suspect him.
Also korra having amnesia might make her abit more interesting, hopefully
I take Korra's amnesia as a good sign. Maybe she can learn not to be an immature, blinkered idiot this time

No one complains about high stakes, that's the point. It is poking fun at the people who just won't be satisfied no matter what the creators do.

And you think my response was "heated"? Clearly you have never been in an actual flame war. Saying that someone has blown something out of proportion is hardly even lukewarm.

Also..
Bolin's character-derailment bothered me the last episode. How old is he supposed to be? 17? Yet he becomes a complete douchebag in the course of what...One week as a movie-star? I know that fame can go to peoples head, and that some people might react this strongly, but honestly, it seems far over-the-top. Like it's just a setup for the classic Aesop-cliché "Be who you are and wbe happy with what you got". If they actually took this and ran with it, if they made this part of his permanent character or have its influence linger noticeably for a long while, it'd be impressed. But no, reset-button, here we go..

Can I just say that the flashback to Wan's story totally validated the entire season in my eyes, flaws and all.

For me, LoK is disappointing. A large part of it, I admit, is my bias against the general setting - "Roarin' Twenties". I just don't like that setting. (Nor do I like most movies or film involving the Mafia, which is quite often intertwined with the "Roarin' Twenties" setting, but that's neither here nor there.) But a great deal of it is that I just didn't like enough of the main characters. Korra was flat and two dimensional. Mako and Bolin were greatly inferior to Kitara and Sokka, and there were too many times where it seemed like they were actively trying to draw the parallel between the two pairs of siblings. Tenzin had hints of depths to the character, but never quite showed it. Lin was my favourite character by far, which is probably because of her connection to Toph and her obvious personality similarities to Toph. Amon was an interesting concept at first, but when the show revealed what and who he was, it just felt like a wasted opportunity.

There's quite a bit more that I could go on about, but what it all comes down to is that the good characters of the Legend of Aang made up for much of the problems of the first three seasons. The weak characters of Legend of Korra magnify the problems the series has.
