Ever heard of artistic freedom... it's not your creation now is it.
And since legend of zelda games were never in a fixed period of time nor in a real chronological order there is a lot of freedom to this.
Each Link is a different incarnation in a different time.
It's just a train, he had a steam powered boat before so what

Why is it that some gamers start to complain when developers take a leap of fate. I bet those are the same gamers that complain about lack of originality when another medieval fantasy game was released.
Some people just can't be pleased.
Why is creativity so shunned in this over saturated market where space marines and Lord of the ring style fantasy reigns.
Gaming is one of those media where all is possible, it's not supposed to be conservative it's supposed to be innovative.

I'm glad nintendo still dares to try new things, even if it's a miss they know they won't go there again. but come on it's just a 2:07 min trailer. There is no way that it's all about train riding. and I'm sure it's explained somehow.
I only hope it has more length and more challenge than Phantom Hourglass.
I am going to buy it anyway even if it gets bad reviews just to piss you off

That is Very True. I always wonder how far in time line Distance Zelda would go. This seems to follow in the Wind Waker Time line and we are still yet to know how far after Wind Waker It takes place. Its great that Nintendo Dares to do something Different with one of there Biggest Stars and knowing them Its going to be a Hit. Remember the Big Change in Metriod?
Again its a Zelda Game and on the DS. I believe we will get a Bang for our Buck.

Pretty much this. I remember the same howls of derision when the cel-shaded Wind Waker was first revealed, and that turned out to be brilliant.

Nintendo get criticised for milking franchises and when they try something different they get slated for that too. Unfortunately, Nintendo seem damned if they do and damned if they don't at the minute.

You're pretty much right, except in this case, ST so far looks like nothing more than Phantom Hourglass with a train and new items, so we can't really say they're being innovative with this title. Of course, all we've seen is a 2-minute trailer, so it's a bit early to call anything right now. For all we know, they just might pull another Majora's Mask on us.

they are working on a wii zelda title...

they have two separate teams for the series... one for portable games, the other for console games

sometimes themembers from either team come to the other side to help out...

I can't believe I'm saying this, but this latest announcement has left me feeling disappointed in a way. I was really hoping for a Wii Zelda that would push the capabilities of the motion controls, and finally put an end to the current drought of great Wii games (even though we just got MadWorld.) Instead, we get another WW-style Zelda game for the DS. What's worse is judging by the trailer, it looks like just more of the same, but with a different vehicle. I'm not saying Phantom Hourglass was bad; despite having an overworld that lacked any intersting features, and being fairly easy, it was still enjoyable to a degree. I'm just saying after 2 1/2 years, you'd think they would have more to offer than what will likely be Phantom Hourglass 1.5.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the game will be fun, but I'm not exactly excited for it.
My thoughts exactly. How can Nintendo so blatently turn their backs on us? We the long-time fans demand gaming. Not endless peripherals. Where is this DS to Wii link-up we were promised? I think Nintendo have lost their way.

UGGHGGH... I'll have to see some reviews before buying this.

Off Topic - Would it be possible for OoT to be brought to the DSi or is that to much?

I remember hearing something about that. I would've liked it if they said "Wii Zelda at E3" or something.

After doing some thinking I started wondering if Link uses a train whats to stop this game from bringing out Guns?
I can see it now!
Link Gets a Sniper Rifle!
He already got that - the Hawkeye on the bow.
Yeah but if there is a train the them might even be Cowboys and they have guns.

Bandit Link.... Link The Kid.... Sheriff Link.... The Good, The Bad and the Ganondorf...

Well, time to go back and play Ocarina of Time to sooth the savage damage that has been wrought upon my brain.

Toon Link? Sure, why not.

Train? F*CK NO!

Need to bring back the simple 3-D puzzle and gaming aspect that made Ocarina of Time (and Majora's Mask, although the 3-Days part was a pain) and simply focus on the puzzle aspect. I remember it taking me almost a month to beat the water temple (stupid half-hidden chest rooms!) and bouncing in glee when I finally managed to do so. Twilight Princesses puzzles were too simple for my taste, and Wind Waker simply relied too much on the boat mechanic, with dungeons seemingly scattered about randomly.

Get back to the awesome boss fights, and killer puzzles!

Anyone remember the block-pushing Poe puzzle from Ocarina of Times forest temple, with the time limit? That was fun.

This? Is not.

I never really liked the toonish style of WW and Phantom Hourglass myself... Both are alright games but the style just doesn't appeal to me. I loved the style of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess. Maybe I'm just averse to change but I'd rather see another Zelda along those lines, no more kiddy style artwork.

THIS. Honestly, some people are never pleased. Personally, I can see trains working pretty well in Hyrule, and even if they were completely out of place, Nintendo'd be able to make it work.

Oh, and people moaning about wanting a Wii title, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that one was in development a while ago. It's only natural that a DS game comes out earlier because it'll be so much easier and quicker to make. Cheaper too, so they can print some more money :D

I won't have any problems with this game if they don't include everything I hated about Phantom Hourglass.

THAT FUCKING TEMPLE YOU HAD TO ENTER AFTER EVERY VISIT TO ANOTHER ISLAND!
I agree it was very annoying. If we have to do a Repeatable temple then make it a awesome temple. That Hour Glass temple was sooooo boring. Also I feel like the World was to small.
