Damage multipliers that stack for my amusement/abuse.

In FF3 Bahamut is weak to: Wind, Lightning, Stab, Cut, Blunt.

If you have a Dragoon of level 99 in the job, give him a wind spear and gungnir.

He deals all of those. They rack up to a 32x damage multiplier. Then throw in the fact that the Jump command from a maxed out Dragon has a x16 multiplier anyway. 512x the damage, Bahamut is one of the optional bosses, and he can be decimasted in a single hit.

After having played the new Metal Gear demo I'd have to say I'm not a major sucker for wanting to cut up everything into fine pieces.
You and I are alike in this respect. I especially love cutting off all their limbs then reducing their flying torso into fine strips of meat...

I'm a massive sucker for nice looking volumetric light shafts. They're just so gosh-darned pretty. Metro 2033 is great for these; even the flashlights make shadow volumes sometimes. The sunsets and high noon in Dishonored are bloody beautiful, too. And Crysis goes without saying...

It feels like something new to video gaming and I'm just enthralled with the amount of cutting I can do plus the cat you can't seem to cut due to it's god like reflexes XD

Any RPG-like system that allows for various non-standard traits, talents, skills etc. to be picked up. For instance, Alpha Protocol was really good for this, giving you small passive buffs for all kinds of reasons. Even having people hate you could give you a buff! Better yet is when these various miscellaneous abilities have specific uses that can alter events significantly.

Another example of this are the perks that can be gained in Fallout through anything other than just levelling up. Those ones always felt the most special, for obvious reasons.
I've got something of a rubbery one for this too. Basically because it makes for a good non-standard reward system while it also gives the player the impression that the game is well thought-through in the sense that it usually rewards lateral thinking and dedication to deviating from the main story line.

"Yes, we did make sidequest where you can become a boxer, you want to do the completely missable quests? have a skill reward"

Personally i'm a sucker for a wide range of wildly (personality and skills please) characters and a fully customizable base, or one that grows organically.

I don't really BLAME Suikoden I&II, but i do feel indebted to it for showing me how you create a virtual home that lets you adapt to your environs as they change around you.

A race of animalistic characters will always grab my attention. Particularly those with good character art that isn't hidden. The more detailed the fur pattern, the better.

Also, beautiful, colorful, detailed environments that I can explore. TES games are great in this regard, but I wish I could find some examples where the scenery's even more interactive.

Here we have an Image of one Kara Zor-El, and she pretty much sums up what will get my attention or interest in something, and here's how!

1) Pretty girl: I'm a guy, putting a pretty girl on the front of something is gonna get me to have a look at it, just how I'm wired, though notice I said 'pretty' not 'sexy', granted Kara, like most female super beings is designed with 'sex appeal' in mind, but its how said character is presented, if they come off rather slutty or are obliviously TRYING to go for the sale based solely on sex appeal (IE; DoA, Rumble Roses, Highschool of the Dead, Ikkitousen ect) then I'm more likely to be turned off and buy or watch something else.

2) Strong Female character: A mix of 'general strength' (IE: She just hit a guy with a Fire Engine) and an actually 'strong character' from a writing stand point. granted well written females in anything can be hard to come by, but I favor them over male characters, or male counter parts like in Supergirl's case here.

3) Super Powers: mind you I was a 'hard core gamer' growing up, I knew about Super Hero comics, even read a few, but was never really 'into it'. Still not in some respects, but I enjoy hearing about the lore, even of characters I don't particularly care for, like Superman. But you give me the option to BE a super hero, and I'm pretty much pre-ordering it, course how interested I stay in it depends on the people making it, Champion's Online pretty much failed to keep my interest while City of Heroes had me till they pulled the plug (FUCK YOU NCSOFT!!! >.<) and DCUO, while flawed, is good, and very enjoyable for levels 1-30 (then I hope you like grinding gear, cause that's ALL there is)

I'm a sucker for all depictions of decay and rust. Games or media which feature rusty vehicles, crooked brick buildings, or desolate factories tend to make my day. Dishonoured almost got a squee out of me when I saw the environment around The Hound Pits pub, but most games tend to happily oblige me with industrial landscapes. Thank god for unimaginative art departments and samey locales.

Oh, and also:

You should try Afterfall: Insanity then. It's kind of Fallout setting mixed with Dead Space. Except it's kind of shit and he dialogue is really terrible XD I'm still playing it though.

OT: Being able to choose my gender. Seriously. I like being able to play my own gender, but sometimes I like to play dudes. But usually I like to play girls. Which is why the Bioware Games were such great fun for me, since in... pretty much all of them you can choose your gender. Also makes the Elder Scolls and Fallout series good.

Although the Fallout series are definitely made with dudes in mind. It's incredibly hard to be a heterosexual female in those games...

Character relationship/Romance options. One of my favourite games of all time is Star Ocean 2 for not only including friendship/romance options for every pairing of characters but also for having the friend/love levels impact not just cutscenes/ending but also the actual gameplay. Any game that lets me muck around with this stuff instead of just having Main Character X end up with Romantic Interest Y gets my immediate attention.

Attractive female characters. Hey, I'll admit it. I like good looking videogame/anime ladies in the games I play. Put a character in the game that scratches my visual itch and I'm immediately more interested.

O_O Wha...I mean...what? The hell are you talking about?

I meant chocolate. Hershey's. Dove. A girl's best friend during that time. The most holiest of ice cream flavors.

A main menu that changes depending on where you are in the game.

A journal the protagonist writes in from his own perspective.

Well done melee combat. When I hit someone I want them to feel it, not like in TES games where it just makes a sound and their health bar goes down a bit. I also like lots o different abilities and weapons too.

RTS games where infantry units come in squads. It's one of the reasons why I loved Company of Heroes so much, and it's one of the good aspects of C&C3. Spawning single soldiers in a military RTS just seems so unrealistic to me.

Also, I've got a thing for scenery gorn in any media.

Agreed. Because Sephiroth (and I think Kaiser Dragon in FF6)

Achievements, I spend a depressing amount of time trying to get all achievements. I use steam so there is no reason to get the achievements, there isn't a scoring system but I still get them.
The Wii U and, going back to play older Wii games (not to mention handhelds) are starting to ween me off of achievement hunting but I do love when games have their own achievement/trophy/accomplishment list to go after. Like the trophies in Kingdom Hearts 3DS or the stickers in Nintendoland.

---

Those two are gaming related but in real life I really like Tonkatsu sauce. I love that stuff on burgers, meatloaf, etc. It's like BBQ sauce but really sweet and...yeah I love it. I also really love Twix bars...

Mine is when a stealth game has a very good hand to hand combat system such as CQC in MGS 3. Although I also love cell shading in games.
