In Fallout 3 when i was wondering around Rivet City, I walked past a man saying something really depressing like he doesn't belong in this world or something. So i followed him to the top of the ship and it seems he wanted to end his life. I(with enough charisma)persuaded him not to jump off the top of the ship.
I thought this was amazing. In a game about shooting and looting, i actually saved someones life, and i've been touched by that ever since.
Hurm. He asked me to push him over the edge, and I did. And it was funny. Mwahahahaha.

OT: Offline multiplayer with bots. Enhances the game in so many ways.

I love glossaries or bestiaries in games. I like just going and looking up character, item, or enemy info in my spare time when playing a game, and any game which has such things gets a plus in my books.
I love when pieces of these are shown on loading screens. Like the tips and history things in the Elder Scrolls games.

I am not as much a fan of the "Poke-Dex" style of them that was employed in the GBA remakes of the Final Fantasy games, as it is just another completion list. I was actually a big fan of having to scan all the enemies and actually remember what I could about them. Once they started giving that away for free after beating them once, it was a bit of a let down.

But yeah, showing it during loading screens is gravy because it doesn't force you to waste time not playing the game to read it, because otherwise you'd just be staring at a blank screen.

The Darkness is full of lovely little things such as full music videos, cartoons, tv shows, and even a movie on the In-Game TVs. Also you find little pieces of Paper with phone numbers written on. If you call the numbers you get unique answering machine messages. There must be over a hundred.

All the hilarious lines the troops say in Brutal Legend. Hearing a Punishing Party Dominatrix shout "He should've used the safe word!" as I kill Eddie or "They're punishing our digestor!" as the enemy troops attack one of our fan geysers. Or even just "You're so stupid, pinboy." as they're just standing around. Or how the Brides see everything in terms of weddings: "This dress was my grandmother's!" or "You're ruining my special day!" It's probably the first game I've seen where all the characters, even the ones which are just 'units', who can be created and spawned indefinitely, have such fantastic characterization.

I think about these all the time. Like in ME2 if you imported a game from ME1 you can see people from decisions you made in one. Or how in Undead Nightmare before you save a town it looks dark and depressing, but after you save it the sun gradually comes out. it happens every time you leave and come back. Wanna see something cool start at a saved town at night and look at the moon. Get on your horse and ride off while still looking at the moon. If the sky doesn't go cloudy then you'll see something cool!

One of my personal favorite little things is found in nearly all of the levels of Timesplitters: Future Perfect. It's the random drunk minions/scientists/whatever that are scattered in every level if you look for them. I always take the time to listen to their mindless ramblings about how "I coulda been a rock star" or "I am ze best guard. I am ze best at the guarding." In a game that is already funny, those are just a nice extra touch added by the developer that make it great. It's nice to enjoy the little things.

As soon as I finished that I thought of this one and had to share: In ME2, go to the Citadel bar/nightclub on the top level and keep ordering drinks from the Turian bartender. It cracked me up because I was just curious to see what would happen. My FemShep got TRASHED! With each drink her balance lessened, her speech slurred and I eventually passed out and woke up in the restroom. Fun times.

I love in games where it goes slow motion, namely Killing Floor, the animation actually shows your gun mechanically ejecting the shell, unlike other games where everytime you shoot all that happens is a shell majically appears out of nowhere.

One time my badass Fallout 3 girl was walking along with Jericho up near Paradise Falls. Some Bloatflies attacked and Jericho went mental shooting at them haphazardly. Then he hit a car...this would have been okay except there was a whole row of cars ending in a bus. The explosion was probably seen from New Vegas so I turn my character around and look at Jericho and he says 'This place looks dangerous'

-.-
