Seriously, I was in Croydon today. Some idiots had burned a load of twigs in the middle of the roundabout. When I went through Lewisham, I did indeed see (a) car(s) that had been set on fire. One car(s), to be exact. It was not a war zone. The media are, by definition, sensationalist and given to vastly exaggerate the problem. I just wanted to note that, for the vast majority of Londoners, the riots have made almost no difference, and that the reactions I've seen from most people seem to be formed out of the mistaken belief that the entire city has gone up in flames.
