Okay, so I've been thinking.

We've all played a game where quicksaving has been used as more of a game mechanic than a means of saving progress. So if you had access to a magical quicksave key in real life, what would you use it for?

I'm expecting some creative answers so go crazy XD

Probably to replay some good shags over and over

and over

oh, and over.

Or to quick save, strip down, wave my willy in the face of every hot intern in the company, and then quick load again.

I mean... for fighting crime?

I'd use it for the search bar.

On a more serious note though, I think I wouldn't abuse it so much, unless each quisave didn't overwrite the previous one. In games, I quicksave often but if I end up screwing a quicksave I can just fall back to the regular saves that I keep only slightly less often. A quicksave fuckup in real life would be permanent. I couldn't live with this risk.

Sounds like what most people would do, but when did he ever say anything about a load button? ;) So that probably means you have to die for it to reset...

I would probbaly do some really stupid things... I would use it for good though, like if there was a car crash i would save it just before that so i could go and rescue the person or things like that.

Okay I think this needs some ground rules:

* There is a quickload key, but you can only use it if you are alive.
* Each save overwrites the previous

If anyone has any more queries about the button itself, feel free to ask before we continue. >_>

I've had a quicksave and quickload key in a dream once. I was fighting off some snake-women with daggers, and the fight didn't turn out very well, so I had to quickload quite a few times.
In real life, I'd probably do some naughty stuff >:), or see the consequences of certain answers and actions when talking with other people would turn out. Although that would perhaps be called "cheating". You know in Groundhog Day the main guy uses every day to find out new things about the woman, that kinda thing ;)

Ok, easy.

I quicksave now, then refrain from loading until I'm on my deathbed. Wash, rinse, dry, repeat: infinite number of lives to experience.

That's great, but on your deathbed you discover that your quicksave expired after 24 hours, the last thing you see is an error message informing you that you have wasted your life. Game over ;)

Well, it CERTAINLY wouldn't work like the quicksave in Dragon Age (Or Mass Effect for that matter).

Because entering the start menu, going to save, saving on the right save file and than waiting for it to save while you're freezed like the Yeti's balls, which you're pretty much forced to do if you're playing over normal difficulty, becomes monotonous, and doesn't prove as thrilling as you'd think.

No, I would like my quicksave as in Oblivion.
Would be handy if I had a test, and I failed it, so I could load my quicksave before I entered the door.

Or when I try sneak up to my room at late of night. My parents are "light-weight sleepers" if you get my drift.
Or so they proclaim...

Wouldn't want to be caught by the night guards, would I?

Now that is a good one.

When you've reloaded, I assume you retain the memory of your last save?

I don't remember you mentioning that this feature is provided by UBISOFT.
A save game that expires after 24 hours is something only they can think of, in their sick sociopathic minds....

Question is, do you remember everything that happened since your last save? I mean, do you get re-loaded to your ENTIRE previous state, memories and all, or do you get to keep the extra knowledge, game-style?

If you get to remember, then a few life-spans in you'd have an INSANE amount of knowledge (and quite likely BE insane, lol)

If you don't then I guess its usefulness would be limited as there would be nothing stopping you from making the same mistakes over and over, leading to a never-ending cycle of reloading, lol.

You know what I hate? When quicksave can't be remapped. My laptop has second functions on its F keys, and I'd rather not have to hold the F LOCK key and press and F key.

Anyway, I'd use it for tests. Sure, I'd reload back to a week before I get the results, but I could guess my way through.

If I were single, I'd use it to pick up chicks at the bar incase I oops the first time. XD

I guess, if we had this feature for a while, I would have quicksaved the moment I knew I could, and simply make my life a whole lot easier when it came to tests and school work and the what not.. If I failed a test.. Would wait until we went over the answers, then auto load back and take the test again.. Straight A's baby!!! Hey? Who needs to retain knowledge when you can autosave through life!!

I could also make an adult-oriented joke about this, but in respect of the younger audience (And utmost fear of the mighty banhammer..) Yeh... nevermind :p

Seriously that function was so game breaking when the games had it xD...

Edit: Dang I've been ninja'd with part of my response.. NUUUUU! xD

Right, I've got to be honest, as a concept it doesn't hold water. Why? Simple, if you are referring to the concept of quick save as a means to save in an area without use of a save point, those saves only last until you re load the data the act of re loading wipes out the save, so turning it off would take you back to your last 'real', save. A quick save is only supposed to be a once only re load so there would be no benefit, unless you have been offered a once in lifetime event and are just too tired to enjoy it, in which case you could save, go to bed, get up re load and enjoy that experience the one time.
That being said, I would use it in the circumstances I described, if someone offered me an amazing day out and I was really really tired I would quick save, get some sleep and then go and have the time of my life wide awake :)

The main character can stop time. He screws up a relationship with a girl he really likes, and pauses time before she walks out the door, then spends days trying to think of a way how to say he's sorry.

Awesome movie.

My bad, sorry XD

Okay assuming you can use it an unlimited amount of time afterwards, {we're not being Ubisoft here now} the sheer accumulation of several lifetimes worth of data would probably be enough to drive you insane, so let's just say short term ones only for now :p
