*Please note, this game has to deal with Doomsday arcade and may contain spoilers for those who have not watched the series, or have yet to watch the final episode. This little game is for those who have watched the show and the finale, so if you have yet to do either, I suggest you watch it before participating in the thread.

After watching the finale to Doomsday Arcade, I went to the forums to see what the discussion was about the way they decided to end the series... While I myself understand why they decided to end it that way, some others may have felt a bit disappointed or cheated. Even though they didn't want to upset anyone by revealing who The Man Upstairs really was. I feel as if they wanted us to fill in the blank. So I would like to present this little game.

Who is The Man Upstairs to you? Why do you feel that he is worthy of such a title? How would this character fit the role in terms of storyline and such? Would there be an interesting plot twist if The Man Upstairs was actually a woman?

This character can be a human or a game character... It could be a character we've seen in the show or one that would have yet to have been introduced. You decide!

I'll start the topic off by giving my take on it all. Keep in mind that even if a character is mentioned, you might have a different take as to how or why he/she may fit the role, so feel free to build off of that.

To me, The man upstairs being the Dice Lord fits perfectly... The DL seems like the type of person who would make the main characters jump through hoops for his amusement, and would learn the error of his ways when they finally overcome him.

In the episode with the Dice Lord... He mentions that they are just going through the motions and neither one will kill the other... Would be interesting if it was played out that the Lund and Shanks "leveled up" several times after first meeting the DL and thus was finally able to overcome him.

Either that or the Man upstairs would be the "Dungeon Master." Would be an interesting approach as well.

I'm pretty sure this should be in Off-topic Discussion. But anyway:

"Mr. Mitchell", head of Project Polybius. Even though Shanks cut that story off, it seems logical enough to me. If Polybius was one of the main components allowing the NPCs to cross to our world, in combination with their portal technology, it makes sense for Mr. Mitchell to be the Man Upstairs. He and Colonel Nefarious could have designed it together, and over the years they recruited additional games developers to replace the Michaels after their memories were erased. Naturally, none of the new recruits could hope to be the equal of either of Lund or Shanks, and so the finished Polybius is somewhat weaker than what it would have been if they had continued working on it.

Just my two cents.

Ahh, if more people feel that way, I'll ask to have it moved. I figured it fit here since I'm asking people to be creative and come up with their own TMU character

I feel that the Man Upstairs was Polybius itself. The Polybius console is powerful enough to do anything, right? Including summon an army, using the leader of a parallel dimension as its puppet figure. The one thing it couldn't do was directly intervene because, well, it's a wooden box and a bit of glass. An omni-powerful wood box and bit of glass, but a wood box and bit of glass none-the-less.

I was thinking Bowser, though GLaDOS would have been amazing. Either that or the Patriot system from MGS4.

Serious question though, the girl in the video who says "Bowser? Cause it isn't Nintendo heavy enough?" Which character does she suggest and the dog then says its the worst character in gaming history? It sounds like Spyro, but I'm sure she says something slightly different.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Miyamoto.
I figured the guy controlling most of the characters was the one who created them. Mario, his most famous creation, is the one who receives his commands.
At least, that's what I thought.
