Or is that 'The Lazerus Papers'? Well, it's both - see, that rather awesome-looking Danny Trejo film being touted on The Escapist (for those Publishers Club members too busy quaffing swan champagne, they're the 30-second stings us proles have to suffer through to watch a videeo) isn't exactly what it seems. To be precise, it's not an action film, nor is it even that much of a thriller.

It's a vaguely arthouse style film exploring healing, death and rebirth. Sounds alright, sure, but not when you shell out cold, hard cash for a Blu-Ray DVD, sold as a goddamn action film, when it's anything but.

I don't know what pisses me off more, that I was essentially scammed by the people wwho marketed this film, or The Escapist for allowing them to use their (wholly reputable and trusted) site to market it.

This is the internet, fellow. At any given time, you could have researched the movie and found out the truth.

Then again, I fell for the same thing with 'The Men Who Stare at Goats.' Luckily, that movie was actually good.

Well... time for me to get back to sipping champagne.

They didn't scam you. At all. You bought a movie based on trailer alone, and anything that comes of that is your fault.

Also, I can't believe you're mad at the Escapist for you not doing research. You have no one to blame but yourself, and this thread is ridiculous.

Scam doesn't mean "The trailer made me want to buy it, and I didn't like it!" That's called a good trailer.

Awesome band, I love 'em. The Hours That Remain are my favourite album with Lost Reality being my favourite song. Shame their new stuff is no good.

Not about the band, it's a movie.

I thought it was gonna be about Mercenaries in general myself.

I disagree. If the trailer was misleading, it's not his fault that he bought it expecting what was in the trailer, instead of what he got. Did you know Blade Runner was marketed as a mindless action film? One of the big reasons it stayed a cult classic, instead of an outright classic for 10 years is because a lot of people who were expecting an action flick hated the slow, thought provoking sci fi that they got.

Now I know that in the age of the internet, we no longer have to trust the trailer, but we should be able to trust it to at least show us something in the right genre.

Yeah, and Jarhead did the same thing. I'm not saying he's dumb, because after looking at the trailer I may have thought the same. But then he went out and bought a blu-ray disk of it without evidently knowing anything else about it, and got mad at the trailer (sort of understandable, I suppose) and the Escapist (?) when neither of them did anything wrong. It's hard to put "artsy" into a thirty second trailer, so they put all the exciting bits in and hoped for the best, which is how 90% percent of trailers are made.
