A link would be the polite thing to do, especially considering this is a repeat thread.

Anyway, I think it's really, really cool. I did some more reading up on it and it's been Molyneaux's secret project since 2002. Pretty cool!

Yeah, I have to agree with both of you. It is a little creepy because its a prepubescant boy your communicating with, but it shows the possiblity of what the future of gaming could encompass. I can only imagine games like Mass Effect, Fallout and Oblivion where you can actually have conversations with characters. It'd be truly amazing, now all they have to do is actually pull it off.

It would be great to see this happen, but imagine how long it would take to make games. I think it is a neat way to go in gaming, but we will see if it actually works when it comes out.

I agree the potential is great, but I think I'd always be trying to break the fourth wall for the NPC's, and I also doubt that it will be a long time before we can really have this fully implemented into games. And yes, I think Milo is fairly creepy.

Well, Milo was just the display model. The one that's currently getting the most attention is slightly older and has boobs. They're having trouble making a layered mo-cap suit for stripping. But in all seriousness, I'm not against it, I just hope that the developers realize that this will be used primarily for pronz and to create a guy that will actually listen to your problems and not expect sex after you're done venting.

"Jessie, I saw you with that guy last night... I want you to know that hurt... I didn't know how to handle it... so I deleted your Oblivion saves... now you'll know just how betrayed I felt"

It's a cool concept but you're going to run into so many things that will remind you your talking to a TV, it will take the coolness out of it.

My interest is in the other games. Maybe instead of using it as an entire game, they could replace the dialog systems in RPGs like Mass Effect and Fallout 3. I also like the scanning concept that lets you bring in real-world objects, but I doubt it will be as simple as it is in the ads. I've always loved face mapping in games like Rainbow Six: Vegas, but it took a very long time to do it, and usually the face looked stupid anyway. Maybe Natal can redeam face mapping. Or maybe you can show Milo your drawings of male genitalia. Only time will tell.

I honestly don't care for it, for all the money they're sinking into this they could use it to make a good Fable.
a good fable is a fable, methinks. At best it will be a different kind of failure.

Aw now that's a cheap shot. While I'm not falling for the Wii-style "happy family" advertisements, I do think that this has a lot of potential. Maybe they won't nail it on their first try, but somebody could make something amazing with Natal eventually.

Hey if I wanted it to be a cheap shot, I'd call Milo ugly and a fag (Which I can't as I would kill myself and haven't seen Milo yet). But it'll be like the Wii in that for every piece of genius there will be a dozen pieces of shit.
I agree this is a gimmick and nothing more, the Wii has essentially ruined this technology for me, the capabilities are probably going to be forced by bizarre limitations which will destroy any immersion natal brings to the table. And I like my immersion.

I said something similar in my previous post.

Ten radically different tech demos designed to be taken apart by Robotic Science students at MIT and sold as a game which we are told to emote with I don't think should be packaged as a game, but instead as ten radically different tech demos designed to be taken apart by Robotic Science students at MIT, sold individually and separately. That way they make more money and people learn things instead of creating an inevitable hypeBomb.
