The biggest problem with computer games today is that the really good MMORPG's is that you have to pay monthly fees. I recently quit Wow for that reason but I would still play it if I didn't get pocketed every month. Same with City of heroes/villans.

There's some that work on a system where you buy the currency of the game with real money, so you can play without paying, but if you want to buy expensive armour/weapons/items, you have to pay something. It's a quite nice system.

Never tried an MMORPGs, but I'd try WOW if I didn't have to pay.

Ya know, lots of Free MMO's out there, and those with monthly fees, I'd feel weird playing and not paying, especially one as Massive as WoW, I'd wonder how the bloody hell they would keep the game up and running.

Anyway, EvE online, right now I don't have the commitment to play, but I've been playing the trial and I'm loving it.

Up next is Pirates of the Burning Sea, a big pirate MMO just sounds awesome.

If you want to "try" an MMO, you should get the trail version.

guild wars it fun and you don't have to pay a monthly fee. But If I didn't have to pay I would play Anarchy Online.

Monthly fees have never been a problem for me. Considering the amount of time I invest into the MMOs I play, $15 a month is nothing. That's two days eating at home instead of grabbing lunch at a restaurant.

WW2 online, that is is such a good concept, but i wouldnt pay monthly for it... I would pay straight out one time only for it though!!

Eve so far is the only game i think is worth paying for, just the depth and sheer possibilitys in that game are amazing.... mind you ive only just started playing it... ask me in a few months if i get sick of it or not....

Every once in a while I get some bug where I go back and play City of Heroes for a month.

Can't stay committed to the plethora of fantasy mmos on the market. Also, can't you play WoW free on a private server?

I never have any money, so paying every month is just not an option for me. But most MMORPGs today look and play like crap anyway, so I'm not losing sleep over not playing them. As well as the one time I played an MMORPG I didn't stop playing it for quite a while... A long while. So fix the whole difficulty thing(They seem to either be hard and tedious because of it or easy and boring because of it.), stop charging me after I've already purchased the game and just get better in general, then and only then I will play them.

Welcome to the cult...err...game :D

Even if every other MMO was made free, I'd still keep playing Eve Online. I've been at it for two and a half years, run two seperate accounts, and have never been able to break away, even when I do find another MMO I like (RIP Auto Assault).

WAR is looking mighty tastey though...

with guild wars you just buy the game and the expansions when they come out, its a great game, and you dont eve have to buy the expansions, but the game seems to resent you if you dont, and you can get guild wars phrofecies for about £16 on play.com

If they were all one payment only, I'd probably give quite a few a go.
Its just I can see myself buying a 60 day membership, and then only playing it for about 10 of those. I just think that if you play MMORPGs then thats the only game you can play, otherwise you're wasting your money. I would rather it cost a bit more to buy originally and then you could just pick it up as and when you wanted rather than having to pay for a certain amount of time and then playing it constantly for that amount of time in order to get your money's worth.

The problem is that for alot of MMO's to keep running they have to charge. Ignoring WoW, which had a big company behind it to begin with, and Guildwars that had a slightly smaller but already established company to begin with, most MMO's simply wouldn't shift enough copies of the game to pay for the servers, at least at a constant.
