People are lashing out because they're angry and the company in question refuses to listen.

Dumbing down games.
Day 0 DLC.
Games are getting shorter.
Games are getting more expensive.
The homogenization of the whole industry, making everything into boring FPS clones.

We're able to communicate with the developers better then ever before, and yet they listen less and less.
People want something different then what is being offered.

Ignoring it doesn't work anymore, and all you end up doing is cutting yourself off from your hobby because there are only a handful of companies now who are are all doing the same shit. But the potential for great games is still there. Gems like Deus Ex and the Witcher 2 still get released every once in a blue moon.
The Hype Machine is just to powerful now however, and the DudeBro crowd keeps lazy and cowardly publishers afloat.

So people are going on offensive however they can.
I admire it in a way.
Unfortunately alot of the comments are just stupid/borderline retarded (if you will excuse using that term for a moment). Doesn't change the point or the issue however. Attacking the argument based on a few idiot band wagoners is bullshit.

Well their "let's hustle them for money like never before" business model might have something to do with it, or everyone just missed their coffee.

We insist on doing this to hammer it into EA's thick fucking skull, they won't learn to not do this exclusive shit if we shit all over their game.
And you know what this tells EA? Bioware fucked up, Bioware can't make a good game, Bioware needs to have it's funding cut or needs to be closed. Bombing the review of a game, or not buying a game because you don't like the publisher only hurts the developer. Companies like EA and Activision-Blizzard will never assume that bad reviews or sales are because of them, they will always assume that they are due to a bad game. We need to find a way to show publishers that we are angry at them, not the developer.

For FUCK Sake, I took one quick glance, LITERALLY 20 seconds, and had a good moment that would've hit me like a freight train spoiled forever... Now I know for a fact that I'm not going to make the decision for that story path, though it is a route I would've seriously considered and possibly taken too had I not read the spoiler.

Gonna' go buy a stress ball, the internet's making me angry for the first time since ever. Publishers bad? Yes - Internets response good? Not really.

It got more expensive? No. Gaming is not getting more expensive, it is getting cheaper.
The game isnt out here in the UK yet so i can't comment on the quality but the price is certainly higher. The collectors edition costs £55 on PC (it was an exclusive at Game for £70 which is absolutly ridiculous...until they stopped stocking it) The CE for ME2 was £35 two years ago.

The standard edition for ME3 is £35 whereas every Bioware RPG since ME1 has been £25.

So price is definatly an issue. The rest of the points aren't really valid right now until it's been out for a while.

The review bombing is very petty though...

And what, except "day 0 dlc", has this to do with ME3? The combat is tighter and the skill system is an improvement over the clusterfuck that was ME1 and the boredom that was ME2. The game is shorter? No one of those guys has played it. It got more expensive? No. Gaming is not getting more expensive, it is getting cheaper.

And people obviously don't want different stuff. They want things they know, they buy stuff they know. So why is it surprising that triple A games gather to the biggest crowd which, at this moment, are people who prefer this kind of gameplay?
I think we both need to define "people" better. I was throwing it around there without clarifying.
There is a definite chasm between different groups of the playerbase. Demographics you could say.
Most people (casual gamers, DudeBro's and the trend following 12 year old crowd) do want the same thing.
But then there is (as shown by the rage and mass review bombing) a large chunk who don't want the same stuff we keep getting. I understand it from the companies perspective.
But that really doesn't matter to me as a customer. I'm paying for the goods, so I'm allowed to try and make demands for what I want in them.
That's not "being entitled" as the press love to throw around, that's just how the system is meant to work.
If EA is going to treat me as a nothing more then a breathing wallet (rather then a valued customer), then it's only healthy for the industry that I treat their games as simple goods, and value them as such.

As to your first points, combat IS better no doubt. But again, we're seeing that from every game. It's generic. What happened to ME3 being a RPG?
The dialogue wheel has darn well shrunk to only 2 responses now.
The game IS shorter, and people have been playing it for days. Streams have been up all over the place. The game is about 20 hours vs ME1's 40. And before that, Baldur's Gate type games lasted 60 hours.
Gaming IS getting more expensive. First prices went up from $50 to $60. Then DLC is cutting large chunks out of the game to resell to you for ANOTHER $7-10.
If you believe the PR line about it "being made after it went gold" and think that justifies it, then we're at an impass. But you're getting hustled, and I'm just trying to warn you.
If we ALL say no to DLC, it will stop.

Personally I think that 10/10 reviews are just as bad as 0/10 reviews, both are skewed way too far in favor or out to be reliable.

That being said I doubt anyone who actually wants the game is going to be swayed by metacric, It'll sell because it's Mass Effect.

People don't really know what they want, it's really simple to point to something and say "I don't like that" it's much harder to say "this is how you fix it". Besides it would be insane to listen to Bioware's fans all the time, more often then not the fans can't even agree what needs to change about the game.

Besides I promise you the majority of Mass Effect Fans couldn't care less about day 0 DLC. I don't feel games have been getting more expensive (not for us at least) remember back when a brand new SNES game was around $60? I promise you that SNES game cost a lot less to make.

I'm still on the fence about picking it up, on one hand I really can't afford it but on the other I loved the last 2 games.

Well, coming from someone who wishes ME3 had bombed horribly, sales wise, and review wise, I still think this is kinda silly. I can't stand EA, so much so I am not buying ME3 but I am not going to go around and review bomb it just because I don't like it. I mean, the game could be great for all I know, I am not going to give it a 0 review when I haven't even played it just because I don't like EA.

Is anyone here honestly thinking that the bombing is actually what people think?

People are doing it to make a statement of discontent.

They are not happy with issues they believe to be large enough to make a fuss about. You're just as welcome to give it a 10/10 to counter their reviews.

But, the only people you have to blame here are EA and Bioware themselves.

They fully know that stuff like Day-one-DLC, Origin and what-not are simply not popular, and the PC market is known for making their voices heard.

Rather than trying to compromise upon this, they force it, likely they already expected this, likely they don't even care.

"Ashley Make-Over"? You mean the change in hair style?
Of course not, although I wouldn't put it past some people to review-bomb over this. It's a spoiler, so I really wouldn't recommend you to inquire any further, although if you won't play the game today or tomorrow you will sooner or later hear it. It's a retcon of sorts where I can fully understand people who would instantly rage-quit and go to the Bioware forums or Metacritic to complain. Which they've done.
And why should he complain over just ~33 10/10 when they are nothing compared to the number of idiots spamming the score with zeros?
Because they're still doing exactly the same thing? It always reeks of hypocrisy when someone only complains about the side he doesn't like. The review system and sites like Metacritic are almost tailor-made to be exploited, by the devs, the publishers, haters, fanboys, trolls, everyone.
Personally I'd consider "It has many flaws but still 10/10" professional reviews to be a much bigger problem than some people with too much time on their hands.

Apparently, they think by score bombing the game, it will be their own way of showing how "evil" E.A and Bioware are acting in response to the Day 1 DLC. Mind you, these are the same people who score bombed Modern Warfare 3 for just being the same as it's predecessors.

I'm not one for day one DLC, but only an idiot would use that as a reflection for the rest of the game. This has happened with Portal 2, now it's Bioware's turn.

I'm wondering if this is just becoming a "thing" to do with hugely anticipated games.

Seriously though, explain to me the reviews I've read that say "Well, the game is actually really good, but it's got day one DLC! 0/10"
This activity has a history with Bioware all the way back to DA:O. It wasn't well received then either as the game tends to throw it in your face (not that it really bothered me, but it seemed to bother some people). This just goes back to me saying that Bioware needs to just cut the shit and get back to their roots. They listened to the fans on some bad ideas and didn't listen to the fans about what really irked them.

Who cares about reviews? Unless a game is considered trash by the critics then for me there isn't any problem. And even if it is truly a trash all the people who want to play it, they will play it regardless.
