Well, this has probably been said before, but people who take the whole pastime way too seriously. K/D ratio people, achievement whores, people who just generally give out to you if you treat the game like what it is, A FUCKING GAME!!
Incidentally, they're also the type of people I dislike on the Escapist.
Hey, hey, K/D ratio people are great to have as teammates if you're playing a non-objective-based game like deathmatch. I should know, I am one, and for that reason I specifically avoid objective-based games because I know that I probably wouldn't help my team.
Yes, but they are ASTOUNDINGLY annoying when you're playing games other than Call of Duty, and they kind of bleed over in to them.
Case in point, Red Orchestra. I'm playing on Stalingrad map, and I ask one of the guys to run across the street to draw the enemy fire. Now, he's carrying a carbine, which means he's pretty light, and can move fast. We need him to draw the fire so we can get the engineer to the door and blow it open, allowing us to get to the last objective point. He probably won't die, and he can make it across easy. I can't do it, because I'm carrying the Dp-27 heavy machine gun, and thus can't run very fast, and neither can the engineer, because he's carrying the satchel charges.
But no, he refuses to do it, because it'll "fuck up his K/D" (Red Orchestra doesn't actually have a K/D). After a minute of arguing with him, I pull out my pistol, shoot him in the head, give another guy the MG and take his carbine and do it myself and survive, taking out an MG team with a grenade while I do so. I was playing as a Soviet officer, so I suppose shooting him for dissent was almost roleplaying, really.
