Yor: Hunter from the future!

Not really (reward yourself for getting the reference) of course, I really like a lot of movies for many reasons, so its hard to pick just one. Right now I really like Silence of the Lambs, which I've only seen this year. Everything from the music to the characters is great and I'm really regretting not seeing it sooner. Honorable mentions go to the Kill Bill movies, Rough Riders, Predator and anything with Sam Elliot.
I may be mistaken but I'm guessing you saw the Spoony review of that movie too, YORS WORLD HES THE MAN!!!

OT: I've never really had a favorite movie I guess the original Star Wars movies especially six were pretty good
To that I reply "I heard that Curtis!!!"
I'm sorry I couldn't resist the urge to reference that when I saw the title

OT: I've found myself watching Kingdom of Heaven quite a lot recently, purely for how well the music works with the rest of the movie.

2001: A Space Odyssey
I have to wonder what part of that film you liked.
The awful acting? The terrible directing? The horrible editing? The overused special effects, used to such an extent because they were fantastic for the time but are eyesores by today's standards? The butchered story-line with an ending that's completely incomprehensible unless you've read the book?

Or perhaps the short but moderately okay part with the computer plus a glaze of nostalgia?

2001: A Space Odyssey is nowhere near the most awesome film of all time, but it's a pretty good contender for the least.
Perhaps it's the brilliant setting, majestic presentation, lavish special effects, great acting and intriguing story that made me like it?
And how could I experience nostalgia for a movie that was first released while my parents were still in grade school?
I happened to like everything about that movie.

Really?
Is this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhVOhK_OspQ] the great acting?
Are these [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC5nkbUqgqs] the lavish special effects that last for 7 minutes into this part and for 2 minutes from the last part?

And it's quite easy to be nostalgic about something that was released before you were born, easier even, as you grow up hearing other's nostalgia and can watch the movie when you were too young to be effectively critical.

Why yes. That was great acting, those were great effects, in my opinion.
And no one had ever told me how much they liked 2001 before I saw it. My dad just came back from the library with it, said "I saw this and remembered that you like Sci-Fi." Then I watched it and thought it was amazing.
It isn't nostalgia, it's good taste.
Also, I'm assuming you think I saw this when I was eight and all the pretty colors were the only things that held my attention.

Have you ever seen an A-class sci-fi film that was made after 1970?

Also, I'm assuming you think I saw this when I was eight and all the pretty colors were the only things that held my attention.
No, the pretty colours and the scary computer, especially as there's nothing else to the film.

To answer the first question, I'm pretty sure I have.
And while the pretty colors and the scary computer were both awesome, it was the overall atmosphere of the movie that kept me riveted.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go do something else.
