My life is pretty tame, so I'm gonna say my mates uncle Graham.

Why? Well (so the story goes) he was walking to his car one day, and a guy walked up to him and tried to mug him. The guy whipped out a knife and tried to stab him. Graham, being the manly man that he is, put his hand up to block the knife.

The knife went into, and through his hand all the way up to the hilt. From there, he pulled his arm sideways, ripping the knife out of the guys hand, then punched him in the face with his free hand.

He then bundled the (now unconcious) mugger into his car and drove to the nearest hospital.

After the guy got his nose fixed and Graham got his hand stitched back together, Graham promised he wouldn't press charges and that he would pay for the medical bill for the guy's nose. Now they're good friends and often joke about it.
Now THAT is a story! :D
That is an awesome story!

I don't know many extraordinary people, but one that stands out in my mind is this guy who used to (might still be) a staff member in the Squadron I used to be in (Air Cadets, not RAF, unfortunately). He was a real mystery. None of us knew how old he was, how long he had been there, how he knew everything he knew or why he was as sexist as he was (a theory is that his bride-to-be ran off with another woman, hence his hatred for women). He rarely smiled...unless he was going to direct a sarcastic comment at you, and he was a scary man. But that was if you didn't earn his respect. If you did, he was the most generous person I have ever met, and he didn't demand respect. He got respect for who he was.
He used to sleep in the ATC hut, even though he had a house, and was really dedicated to what he did. When loads of us went to Snowdon, he would go up huge lumps of track and back within about ten minutes (when it would have taken some of us about an hour) and would just say 'Yeah, not going that way'. He was a machine, and one of the most respected men I have ever met.

Not badass as such, but he was mysterious, so we all filled in the gaps.

I went to school with a guy who, at the age of 14, broke a 30 year old man's nose punchiong through a motorcycle visor. He's currently in prison for some battery charge.

Although my sister's fiancee is pretty badass: was in the army, went to Afghanistan and Iraq, drove tanks and did work as a bouncer when he left.
One story that comes to mind that makes me laugh everytime I hear it is one night he woke up and heard a tank driving (his room was next to the parade ground). Somehow, he knew it was his tank so, wearing only his boxers he ran out armed with his pistol, jumped up and opened the hatch screaming "get your fucking hands up!" or some such angry bullshit. 3 drunk men who were meant to be under his command climbed out shitting themselves completely. He was not happy.

I know he's killed people but I think that story epitomises him lol.

My dad fought cancer for six years and even when it was obvious he wasn't going to win the fight, he never gave up hope and never stopped putting on a brave face for his two young children (me and my brother were 9 and 7, respectively, when he died). He remained strong in his faith, never blamed the world for his problems, never said the equivalent of "FML" or any of the other emo shit you see on the Internet, he just looked up at his god and said "if this is what you want, this is what goes."

A pure, old-school man's man. Manlier and more badass than the Old Spice Guy, Chuck Norris, Tim Allen, and the dudes from the Mantage put together.

This guy lives about 4 doors away from me. There is a slight clue as to why I think this guy is badass in the url below and an even bigger one in the article.

My Grandfather was a Bataan Death March survivor, and a POW for 3 1/2 years. That's pretty badass if you ask me.

It would be an exaggeration to say that we are "acquainted", but I once met and shook hands with Robert K. Brown.

Didn't know who he was before, but I do now thanks to your link.

Gotta say that, even if you don't actually know the guy, that must have been one badass handshake.

Damn. Manly indeed. That story could elicit

in even the most badassery-resistant people.

Also, I really need to stop referencing TV Tropes for everything.

My next door neighbor.
He is around 60 years old. A real handyman, he can fix and make just about anything. Pretty tough too.

Or my Grandpa from my moms side. He is really strong and tough. So tough, he hurts people without meaning too. He is the local butcher in his village.

Or any of my uncles from my moms side. They got their toughness from my grandpa obviously. And they are all womanizers.

Why didn't I get any of those traits?

I met the lead singer of All That Remains and Bring me The Horrizon before I even knew what band they were from.

Oh, and I met Steven Tyler when I was 4.

A fencing coach of mine named Coach Ahren: His motto is 'stupidity should painful', and he named his blade Shylock- yes, like the sadist from the Merchant of Venice.

I'd have to say my Uncle Eian, he's a firefighter. Saved countless people from drowning. And he used to go on escapades around the world to all kinds of interesting places, and there's been some interesting stories about the trouble he's been in. He drinks and smokes, so much it's funny.

He's also an incredible marksman, and even when drunk. He's still hit the targets. And he's personality is just the greatest, I love the guy lmao.
