Well name the game that you think is the most beautiful of them all.
For me it is the Mirror's Edge (PC). I have heard that the ps3 version is not that great, but the PC version really is beautiful. The visuals are one of the main reasons ( the other is the feeling of motion if u pull of nice move)I keep on going despite the fact that the game play sucks a bit and the controls are better suited for a consol and that the story is well bad.

killzone 2, from what i saw, looked really good. but i would hope so from a ps3 game that took 2+++ years to make.

the later DC missions in MW2, with the rain, fire, wind, muzzle flashes, and HELICOPTERS FALLING FROM THE SKY look stunning and are truly immersive.

The most beautiful in terms of visual or art style?

If it's just visuals, then Crysis and Crysis Warhead win. With certain mods, the game can approach near photographic realism.

In terms of art style, Borderlands has a pretty unique art style that i thought worked perfectly with the game. Super Robot Wars Z( and the whole series) has that nice slightly chibi mecha style with nice bright colors.

I'm partial to the look of Darwinia, but maybe that's just me.

I agree about Braid, Shadow of the Colossus, and the new Prince of Persia, but not so much Mirror's Edge. Don't get me wrong, I love the original look of Mirror's Edge, and it helps the gameplay, but the stark world doesn't feel "beautiful" to me. This, of course, was part of the design: the world is supposed to feel cold, lifeless, sanitized, distant, and harsh. My adjective for that game's look would be "striking."

Braid, no contest. Newly-released Machinarium also looks beautiful (or nightmareish, depending on your tastes).

Having lived in Florence for a year, I'd have to go with Assassin's Creed II. They recreated the city perfectly - it made me a little homesick for it :((

Mirror's Edge definetly. The only game in which a combination of fantastic atmospheric music and incredible visuals brought me to tears.

Bioshock, the entire game looked like some gorgeous, shimmering work of art. Not to mention, you know, it's fucking awesome.

Assasin's Creed 2, no contest.

Venice by night during Carnivale, the little coloured lamps shimmering and reflecting in the water, the stunningly recreated real architecture, ... has to be seen to be believed.

Yes, great choice.

I am also confused, is this about graphics? Or is it about art style?

In any case, the original Starfox for the SNES.

God I love that game...

The music on Level 1 was so cool.

Oblivion...that game just glowed with the perfect fantasy feel for me...you come out of the sewers for the first time and see the clear sky, mountains, forests, rivers, ruins...and increases even more when you see the fire-torn and evilness of the planes of Oblivion.

Great Game and may not ahve been vissualy stunning but the art design and the look of the collosi, was just magical. Shadow of the Collosus gets my vote.
