My personal pick is Final Fantasy VIII. While a lot of people will say it's great, I thought it was terrible. I also wasn't too fond of Max Payne 2, the first was amazing but the second was fairly disappointing.

Final Fantasy VIII is a good choice...but I have to say Final Fantasy XII ultimately broke my heart. It starts off pretty strong, introduces characters and fun gameplay and what not...then the characters are pointless and the gameplay is so overwhelming BS as eventually the CPU is allowed to cheat. It starts off great, then it's a long, steep, slide of crap to the pool of suck.
Assassin's Creed. I just didn't think running and jumping repetitively was as fun as everyone else. the only part I liked in that game was the assassinations and there just wasn't enough in my opinion for a game about assassination.
Steel Batallion. They built the greatest Mech combat simulator ever released to consumers. They built the coolest controller I've ever seen. They charged me 200 USD for the privileged of bringing it into my home. And the game was a complete pile of shit.
This thread is going to go downhill fast. Just a warning.
Anyway, the game I was most disappointed by was Fallout Tactics. I had heard it was actually a pretty good tactical combat game, if you look past the parts where they fucked up the whole Fallout thing. I tried it and, well, it hasn't aged well.

Battlefield Bad Company 2. Horrible plot, retarded humor, cheap enemies with amazing accuracy. Horrible use of the destruction physics. Hated all the characters. Went out of its way to try to piss off MW2 developers with lines like "drive snowmobiles? those are for pansy's" OR "friggin special ops guys with heartbeat sensors attached to their weapons". Even multiplayer was garbage.
Bioshock easily. I expected gold based on what everyone and their dog said. Turned out it was shit. It doesn't get any more dissapointing than that. Team Fortress 2 is a close second.
I thought all of the modern warfare games were a disappointment just because of how boring they were. Also, I stayed in the same spot for like 5 seconds to reload and was yelled off the game because about five ten year olds constantly yelled at me for camping. I said fuck that and just started playing minecraft.
I once spent money on Dawn of Mana. I could hardly play half an hour without the controls and leveling system becoming too much of a pain in the ass before I put in the "return to Gamestop" pile.
Team Fortress 2 as well. It was fun when I first got it, but it lost its appeal pretty quickly. Even with all the extra items, the game itself wasn't very much fun (I like the comics and videos, though). Just not my thing, I guess.

OT: Fable 2, mainly because I completely fell for Molyneux's old tricks and hyped it up to be the best game ever for months and months. Of course, it couldn't live up to that hype, and on top of that it was merely good, as opposed to great. I was sorely disappointed with it, although that was mostly my fault.
