Fallout 3. In theory I should love this game. In reality it's like the designers had a list of everything I hate in video games and made sure every box was ticked. I still can't shake the feeling that I'm missing something that'll make it click for me, and I know I'll end up reinstalling the bloody thing again sooner or later for another try.

Silent Hill Homecoming. I cried tears of disappointment
Ah now you see I was prepared for it to be rubbish. I'm a big fan of Silent Hill and I followed this game's progress as best I could when it was being developed... it never, ever looked any good. Odd how the dissapointment still applies... I guess I still had SOME hope left... :(

My biggest dissapointments:

LOTR: Conquest
Dragon Age: Origins
Fable 2
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Mafia 2
Red Dead Redemption
Halo 2
Resident Evil 5
Battle for Middle Earth 2

Wow, there was more there than I thought. Now, if I was listing games that were just pure BAD, there would be a lot more. But all of these games had nurtured in me such high expectations that I was sorely dissapointed when I finally played them.

Empire Total war. After spending weeks of my life playing Rome and Medeival 2 i was really looking forward to Empire; when it was released it was a dull, buggy mess despite the stellar reviews. I hear it's been patched/modded into something playable now though.

Metro 2033 is currently disappointing me. The graphics are incredible on PC, but the gameplay just feels empty. It may be because I have got so addicted and used to open world games and now find anything else lacking, but it just feels like there is so little consequence or meaningful challenge. Im kind of playing it through simply because I have paid for it.

I'd have to say Fable 2, again.

There was just something missing. It sort of, lost it's soul for me.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are a HUGE disappointments for me because they were advertised as deep RPGs. hahhaha
But Deus ex Invisible war takes the cake. That game is the synonim for disappointement :-(

Half-Life. Maybe it was the hype but all i see when i play it is a mediocre FPS with any amazing moments being washed away by repetitive gameplay
Did you play it when it came out or 5 years later when everyone else had copied it?
Just curious.
Half-Life 1 i played about 5 years after its release so yer = P, i first played half-life 2 when the orange box came out, so yes a lot of people had already played it, hype is a murderous thing :(

Nothing survives the hype beast.

Persona 4. I heard a helluva lot of good things about it, but after I played it, I hated it completly :/ There was just nothing good about it in my honest opinion. (Good soundtrack tho)

Also, I was kinda dissapointed by Oblivion too. Not too much tho, I still think it's a great and fun game.

Hah, add bioshock in there and I think you've ripped on atleast 1 favorite from every gamer in here. Hype tends to end up dissapointing everyone though.

For me it'd have to be hands down spore, waiting 4 years for that game or something only to find out it was a horrible rip off of other games, some of which I already thought were mediocre at best. The editor was nice though.

Borderlands, Heavy Rain and FF13 come close, I think its just that I got over how dissapointing they were quicker than spore.
I knew I forgot a game. Thanks

This is a topic on disappointing games, not great games.

On topic:
Red Faction
The Conduit
Kingdom Hearts: BbS
They were great to begin with? Since when?

Timesplitters 2.

I love Future Perfect, but so many problems: the aiming, no hand models, lack of animations, lack of sounds, relying on autotarget just around all the time, no health kits, hardly any armor drops...

Mirror's Edge.

Mostly because the disappointment is palpable while playing, but even worse long after you finish the game as you slowly realize the vast potential the game had that was left untapped. After playing it I was left with a prolonged sense of disillusion not only with the game, but with the gaming industry in general for throwing away a perfect opportunity to introduce an original, refreshing and new IP by buckling it down with absolutely terrible design choices that insure nobody will take the game or it's different take on the first-person gaming experience as anything other than a failed experiment.

I lol at people who don't appriciate the brilliance that was the Half-life series. For some reason good pacing and narative are lost on these ppl who much rather the terrible blandness and convoluted story that is any war game like CoD.

Oh well, to each his own. I'm sure the protagonists in the new cod will die a record 9 times.

Disappointing? I'ma go with?Dead Rising. Also Gears of War, and Halo 3. I'm not sure if I can pick just one, but I'll keep DR where it is for now.

I hate Cod as well. FPS are my least favorite.
