I can't narrow it down to one but here they are!
The Shining (Book)
A fucking hotel explodes and you find out Tony is Danny from the future, what more do you want!?

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
The begining of the epic ending is when they are trapped in alternate realities created in their own mind and Kamina pulls everyone out of them. After which they turn into a kickass robot big enough to throw planets as weapons. Finally when all is said and done, Nia dies at the wedding. Then Simon walks away forever, to be seen one more time as what looks like a gypsy telling a boy how to open a coconut with a drill.

Fooly Cooly (Books)
Now, some of you may be saying "Wait! The ending for FLCL had no closure!" but i think it had just enough. You learn that in one way or the other Atmosk was Naota's brother, Haruko leaves without warning but comes back to say goodbye and gives him the vespa to come find her someday. Not to mention his face explodes and a cat comes out of it.

The World Ends With You
This game had the most amazing ending ever, no questions asked. Mr. H was an angel sent to make sure nothing went wrong in the game, but to make sure shibuya wasn't destroyed he had to bring Sho back to life. So he became a renegade angel. Not to mention, the whole game you have been fighting to wipe your hometown from the face of the earth, and that you were merely Joshua's puppet. Joshua turned out to be the composer and wanted to rid his hands of shibuya, the guy you were fighting was trying to save it. And the end is Joshua seeing how much Neku had changed in the past three weeks and had decided to let it stay. Although, i think Mr. H had more to do with that, the secret ending gives me that feeling.

And that's all i can think of at the moment!

Well, I'd have to really think on this, I don't really find things like this epic...I guess the this was epic in a sense.

The building blowing up in The Quantum of Solice, and the fight towards the end...also when Bond left the one guy to walk with nothing but a can of oil to drink. Pretty epic in my opinion.

The end of ace combat 5. Despite all the chatter from your peacemoungering rabid hippie copilots, you have to:

blow up a friggen satellite sent down by the naz- I mean Belkans, as revenge for defeating them in a war 15 years ago as it falls towards the capital of Osea, and there's this awesome chanting music. I replay the stage just for that song.

I thought the ending to the book Ptolemy's Gate by Johnathan Stroud was very moving.
...something happens. Just read the trilogy, it's quite worth it.
Gosh it's been years since I read those books. I should really pick those up again. Kudos to you for mentioning it and bringing it back to my mind.

Tintin and the Castafiore Emerald
Hergé does a marvelous job of creating drama around nothing actually happening.

Metal gear solid 4 had an ending that made me tear up seeing the big boss finally meet his son "snake". Big boss kills the man who lead the "the partiots" orginization,Zero. {if your a long time fan of mgs youll know what im talking about}than snake and big boss spend the rest of the time talking about how snake is a free man now to make a life for himself. And in the end snakes father dies in front of him,the last of the patriots.

Come to think of it Farcry 2 had an ending which had me fight my way up a cliff to a dynamite stach, and when i faught my way through i placed the car battery on the dynamite and preped it for detenation. the climax is when you attatch the copper to the battery and the screen turns white. the jackel also played a part in the climax, he delivered dimonds to the bordeer gaurds and later put a bullet in his head. The man you were sent to kill becomes your allie and together you set an nation free from the corrupt factions the APR and the UFLL.[play through the game to get the full story and the climax enging]

I pretty much like all endings in Neil Gaiman stories. Exception being, as stated above, the ending in Stardust, the book.

I liked the Wanted ending. Not the ratbombs, not the Eight-people-one-bullet trick by Fox.
Not even the sniper shot made by Wesley when he kills Sloan

But when he looks to the camera after finishing his monologue and says, "This is me taking back control of my life. What the fuck have you done lately?"

Erg, sorry to hate on it, but I thought that was the cheesiest, most demographic pandering... just all round worst sign off I'd ever seen. :(
I cringed when I heard it.

As for my choice, Perhaps Dr Strangelove?

I thought the end to devils advocate was pretty epic..it suddenly goes from a bit weird, to the total supernatural. The way its delivered as being completely normal is what makes the ending so climactic...and then they do an odd 'it was only a dream/voodoo/alternate universe' thing. Still it doesn't ruin it.
