When my PS2 memory card decided to say it had deleted my 2 gran turismo saves (in reality it hadn't) so now I only have 2 MB of save space

This wasn't my problem but my brother's.

We had just gotten FF7 and he has a problem saving. So he would play for a few hours and inevitably the game would crash and he'd have to do it all again. So, after that happening a few times he finally gets to the last disc and his memory card becomes corrupted and we can't get anything off of it.

So, after much anger, a new (and this time PlayStation brand not nameless crap-brand) memory card he starts playing again. God knows how many hours in he is outside of Midgar about to fight the big snake doohickey and the PlayStation freezes and he hadn't saved the game once in all of that time.

He has never lived it down.

Worst one? Planetside

Probably when I was the last man standing after a huge group attacked a CC hold on the capital (I forget the cont.) and I at the time had advanced med specked in. So everyone goes "yay" and i go to pick up the other medics, who can in turn pick up everyone else. So I move off to res them, and lo and behold, Blue Screen of Fucking Death o_o

We lost the capital hack... they pushed it back, and we continued fighting on that continent for however much longer until I finally logged for the day (As i rabbidly tried to log back in to find my character dead on the floor with the rest of them.)

Planetsides only flaw that, the random disconnects and crashing :( - or major flaw anyway, I know it potentially had hundreds...

Also, I was playing Metroid Prime and I had gotten right to the final stretch of the game. Maybe another hours worth of playing. And then the next time I play it, all of the data is corrupted.

Needless to say, I did not play it again for a while.

But the next time I did, the exact same thing happened! Only this time it was right at the final boss. Very, very aggravating.

How about when a crash saved my life? In Medieval 2 I was under siege, game crashed, and it didn't save that turn, so I had a chance to act! I destroyed them! Yay!

I was playing Kingdom Hearts 2 trying to collect and beat everything on hard mode and when I finally did, halfway through the credits the game froze up and refused to unfreeze. I calmly stood up, walked out of the room and have not played KH2 since.

When I'm working in Forge, and I go to save, but instead of saving, the round ends instead, undoing an hour or two of work, which I then have to redo, and of course it never ends up like I had it the first time...And it happens so much. ;_;

Final Fantasy VIII on PSX. Was in the final castle. Beat Ultima/Omega (cant remember which( Weapon then all of a sudden the game stutters and freezes. So finally I reboot and it turns out my mem card had died. A official sony mem card and was also the one I used for all my RPGs so many many hours of struggling were gone. Was over a year before I finally bothered to play FF VIII again.
I feel your pain, I was playing FF VII on the third disk fight with Sepheroth and my memory card broke. I am starting to lose my faith in SONY technology.

I was playing Bioshock at the part with Sander Cohen. The place with more spider splicers than you can shake an angry wrench at. Needless to say, I haven't taken the time to save my progress after a few hours. Then suddenly my screen starts lagging and bouncing around and theres nothing I can do to stop it

So there goes a few aggravating hours chock filled with TOO MANY SPIDER SPLICERS.

Here's a nice vintage one for you - not that it really made me cry at the time, but more that I didn't understand it. A long time ago I was playing "Pagan: Ultima VIII," which despite critical savaging is one of my all-time favorite gaming memories and the basis for many an RPG moment in my head. I was playing until the point where Vividos is about to stab his master through the chest, and he does so and the screen begins shaking, but nothing happens - the game is frozen.

So my brother and I try every tactic we can think of to get around it, explore side quests for another pathway, buy all the strategy guides, even buy another version of the game - all of which is for naught. And we're not even pre-teens at this point so we don't understand shit, we think we're doing it wrong. So, of course, once we finally do discover patches and fixes, our enthusiasm for the game has curdled and we already know everything we need to do as we've read the manuals fully out of frustration.

There's my wasted childhood for ya.

I was playing Mass Effect, and I was at the point where you fight the Matriarch (Matron? either way), when suddenly my character freezes as the result of one of her biotics. And stays frozen. And then he starts to stretch slowly in wierd directions, until he resembles Stretch Armstrong following a car wreck. At first I actually thought this was some hitherto unknown power, but I eventually figured it out when I noticed her attacks weren't hurting me.

Worst part? I hadn't saved for like three planets. And the actual fight was insanely easy.

A few years ago I picked up Morrowind on the advice of a friend. I got to the part where you had to talk to all the leader people and unite them, and I stopped playing because for the life of me I had no idea where to go thanks to the shitty in-game map.

About a year later, I'm talking to my friend and the topic comes up. He gives me the locations of where I need to go, so naturally I'm giddy with joy at the prospect of being able to finish the game. Fast forward a few hours (read: about 10. I like to screw around, and he got me some cool stuff), and what happens? My guy sinks into the earth like I just stepped in to an invisible pit of quicksand. After losing that much time and stuff (I got VERY rich from all my screwing around), I said "fuck it" and haven't picked the game up since.

So yeah, I'm an Oblivion kind of guy.

Well my friend was a GIANT fan of FFX, as in he had sunk almost 400 hours into it completing everything and making most of the characters the equivilent of god. After collecting the final aeon he goes back to fight Sin and guess what, it was either the PS2 or the very badly scratched up disc but everytime he exited the ship, it froze and his parents refused to pay for a new copy of it. He leaves his room for a few minutes and I quickly pop my memory card in and copy his data onto my card and thus skipping the annoying boss I was stuck on and giving me everything. The fruits of other people's labour are sweeter then that of your own. In other words, TOTAL DICK MOVE :D

I was playing Beyond Good and Evil and had just defeated that guy in the giant ship thing and then got to the bit where you have to go into the crashed ship. What you're supported to do is land, release the hovercraft and drive into the opening. What I thought I was supposed to do was fly the ship into the opening.
The game just fucked up, No death or anything. I had to restart the game from the last time I saved which was just before that weird reflection puzzle so the glitch was annoying.
I restarted the game and was going back up those weird air lift thingies. When I got back to the bit where you rescued Pey'j and either Pey'j or Agent X (I don't remember which one) had completely disappeared! I obviously couldn't complete the game without both characters so I had to restart it again.
Everything worked the third time But it was still all very frustrating.

In Fable TLC, I just got the final Silver Key, (I had gotten them all in one sitting,) and went and got Archon's armor and the other silver key chests. However, I hadn't saved, and my power went out, completely wasting 2 hours of my life. :(

I was playing Arc the Lad 3 on the PSone. I was saving. The game broke. I had to redo 33 hour's worth of playtime that I needed to accumulate over 6 weeks T_T.
