Tell me the name of the most unrecognized game(s) you own and why you got it.
Mine would be "Shadow of Destiny" for the PS2. I walked by it at a bookstore and saw that it sold for only 2 dollars. The premise of a man going back in time trying to stop himself from being killed seemed interesting enough for the price. It was okay for it's time, mostly for the fact that it resolved problems through ways that wasn't just "Punch the thing" and "Shoot the thing". It was different so I would say it was worth the money. So how about you guys?

Edit:Just a couple more games I think are obscure.
Fear effect PS1
Zero divide PS1
Grid runner PS1
Grudge wars PS1
Lucky Luke PS1
Descent PS1
SMT: Nocturne PS2
The Bouncer PS2
XIII PS2
.hack 1 and 2 PS2
Barbarian PS2

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, or Hunter: The Reckoning.

Also, I have a copy of Devil May Cry, still in its original shrink wrap. :D

Probably Yahtzee's games. It's a tragedy that so few people (at least, so few on this website, which is where he made a name for himself) know about them. I don't know which is more obscure, Art of Theft or the Chzo Mythos series, but I have both.

Other than that, most of my games are pretty mainstream.

Oh, and I got them because he's a great writer and a funny bastard and they seemed interesting. Glad I did, they're awesome.

Either Obscure 2: The Aftermath or Enchanted Arms. I literally had never heard of Obscure, just saw it in GameStop and decided I wanted it. Ok game. Can be played in six hours easy.

On the N64 I've got Space Station Silicon Valley, a game I never knew about until very recently when I saw it at Play-n-Trade and my GF squirted all over it (figuratively speaking). I've also got Glover on the N64. That was pretty obscure I thought.

Pschonauts for my PS2.

Why do I own it? It's made by the god among men, Tim Schafer.

A crappy Asteroids clone I programmmed myself. Because it amused me. Games do not get much more obscure than that.

That's not obscure. Everyone knows of Psychonauts.
WHAT?!? I thought I was different...

What would you consider obscure, fine sir/madam?
Uhm... well, something on PC. PC gaming is pretty obscure. Maybe King's Quest?

King's Quest isn't obscure. Now Zork is obscure!

I've also got:
Quackshot
Boogerman
Jurassic Park Sega CD
Phantasy Star
The Cat and the Coup
Most of my Atari 2600 collection?

Oh, how about Pyst? It's a bad parody of myst.

I own a 1993 game called Victor Vector & Yondo: The Cyberplasm Formula. In fact I still have the CD right here.

The description on the back:
Victor Vector and his digital dog Yondo are on a life-or-death mission to recover the secret formula for creating cyberplasm. And it's all up to you. So grab the controls and guide them through the 21st century, a world of roving robots, menacing mazes, and more!
Sounds good, no?

Earth's Special Forces.

Sure it's a mod, and free, but dammit, it's still obscure. Had a lot of fun with it back in the day. That was just the beta though. It looks great now, but nothing playable beyond the original, and it's already taken a loong time to get this far. It might be another few years before the game is released.

I can't really pick one, so I'd have to say...
* Samorost 2 (puzzle-adventure) - I was a big fan of Machinarium, so I figured I should get this one since it was made by the same little indie studio. It's definitely cute, but not as good as Machinarium.
* The Whispered World (puzzle-adventure) - I heard good things. They were wrong. Don't get this.
* Myst Online: Uru Live (puzzle-adventure) - everyone knows Myst, but few people know it has a free online multiplayer sequel. It's quite charming, if you can look past the clunky controls and dated graphics, and the fact that it will never get any new content.
* Zen Bound 2 (puzzle) - I was looking for iPad games for my mom and this one sounded neat, so I picked up a copy on Steam for myself. It's a pretty fun little game.

...and a few more that are too embarrassing to mention. I refuse to admit that I was a child once.

Clearly I'm a big fan of the puzzle-adventure genre.

I WOULD mention Nelda Nockbladder's Anatomy Lesson, which is a fucking bizarre little platformer (sort of?) about a...cow or buffalo wearing a dress who spits flaming custard and who travels through different body parts looking for the snack bar. But it doesn't run on Windows 7 64 bit, so I no longer have it. Which depresses me to no end. I loved that game so much, for so many years.

The Suffering. It's a surprisingly good horror/shooter. And I've never met one person who's heard of it.

So much this. I remember playing Space Station Silicon Valley with my sister when i was a kid, but all my friends didn't have a clue about what it was. I eventually bought it on ebay a few years ago. It's still good, but it gets old fast. I don't regret buying it though.
