OH! Also Quarantine for the 3DO. Think Doom meets Escape from New York. Not the best game, but pretty obscure I think.

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream for PC. It's like the precursor to Silent Hill 2 but with 5 people and a malevolent A.I. hell bent on tormenting them forever.
Amazing! I have it too. Based on the story by Harlan Ellison who also does the voice for AM.

Titanic: Adventure Out of Time and the 7th Guest.

Titanic is a point and click adventure/mystery game. The graphics are pretty standard for a game released in 1997, but the reproduction of the ship is authentic. The software has actually been used in TV shows about the Titanic.

7th Guest was released earlier and was one of the first games to be released only on CD-ROM (according to Wikipedia anyway, and we all know THAT is an excellent source.) I got the game a few years after it came out, I think I was about 10. It's not exactly a scary game now but I managed to start playing it for the first time at night while my parents were out. Worst idea ever. I think it took me 3 months to start it up again.

Robots Alchemic Drive. It is an amazing game in which you take control of a giant robot and you beat up other giant robots. Still one of my favorite games of all time and I wish they either remade it or made a sequel.

You are awesome! I have that too. The weapons were cool, but I found that I really enjoyed punching the crap out of the enemy robots.

Saga: Rage of vikings

An AoE like RTS in a nordic setting. Played it mostly when I was 10-12 or something so can't really say how good it was. But I remember having a blast with it.

D for the PSX is the most obscure game I own. Most people I know haven't even heard of it. I rather like it, even if it can be annoying at times.
I played "D" but on the 3DO.

The Void (also known as Tension or Turgor depending on what part of the world you live in). I actually ended up grabbing it off of Steam thanks to a conversation on these very forums ages ago.

The actual game itself? It's outright gorgeous and redolent with symbolism. All of the characters are kind of painted as being in a morally grey area and the difficulty curve is so steep that you can unwittingly do something that'll cost you the game much farther along. Still, if you can cope with that, I suggest you give it a look.

Runners up include Zeno Clash, Team Buddies for the PS1, Uplink, The Ship and the mod Dear Esther that I still have installed on my hard drive.

Brave Fencer Musashi.

Fun game... one of the best RPGs ever. I'll always have a softspot for it.
Oh man I remember that game. I think I rented it though because it's not in my collection.

AI War: Fleet Command. Indie 4X grand strategy in space. It gets way less attention than it should, considering how fun it is and how much after-release attention the developer gives it.

Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja

It's a DS action/strategy RPG of the brutally unforgiving nature. It plays like early Zelda games would, if those games were strategy titles. Essentially, a dungeon crawler. If you die in a dungeon, you lose ALL of your money, items, and weapons.

Also items/weapons can break, resulting in permanent loss.

Marc Ecko's Getting Up for the PS2. Despite the absolutely terrible title it was actually a very good game. Set in a near future dystopian society, you play as a ghetto-living kid called Trane who's just getting into graffiti art. The game starts out pretty nicely with Trane tagging over rival art in prominent spots but slowly develops into a huge government conspiracy plot that is actually really good.

Aside from a surprisingly good story, the game mechanics are great too. Elements of free-running, stealth and hand-to-hand combat are done pretty well in the game as are varying techniques used to create the graffiti.

I have no idea why I bought the game...I think the premise just appealed to me. I am so glad I gave it a go though because it's really enjoyable. Kinda sad that it didn't get the recognition it deserved.

Check it out if you get the chance...it'll be insanely cheap now and worth every penny.

A lot of these obscure games I've heard of and I feel like other people have heard of as well. I can't imagine what is so obscure about No More Hero's, Way of the Samurai 3, or Parasite Eve.

My most obscure game is Re-Volt, an old RC racing game for the PC that came out in 1999. It was plenty of fun and you got to use weapons ala Mario Kart such as bottle rockets. I might have to go install it again just because of this thread.

Probably Vexx or War of the Monsters. And Folklore would probably be the most obscure from this console generation. They're all quite fun games though.
