Elezibeth from persona 3 . I count this as the hardest boss in any game ever . Not tomention it's a one on one fight.

Demi-friend from devil digital saga . Fuck you pixie .

Lucifer from Nocturne .

Hmmm coincidence that all three of these are from shin megami tensei games... I think not .

Oh and wesker from UMVC3 .
I was gonna say all these things, so yeah what this person said.

Also The Matador form Nocturne is super hard the first time you play, having at that point in the game no clue what a real boss can do.

I'd say Crawmerax from Borderlands Knoxx DLC and Beezy from Sakyubasu No Tatakai. Both of those are pretty high up there on the murder scale.

Way back in the ps2 rpg days Arc the lad 4 had a stupidly hard boss. The game till then was a cinch, but the boss was just bloody ridiculous and required hours upon hours of grinding. Horaay.
I actually had a similar experience with another RPG, Summon Night: Twin Age for the DS. It was a decent ( and really easy) game up until I got to fight Mardin. Most of the bosses in the game up to that point didn't even take a minute. Mardin trashed me like none other.

The Flamelurker from Demon's Souls was pretty tough. At least, when you solo him, otherwise, his AI becomes... unintelligent. His large burst attacks are hard to avoid, especially when he starts spamming them later on in the fight.

Also, Nu-13 from Blazblue: Calamity Trigger, since her character's moveset was blatantly overpowered to a ridiculous degree.

Azazel from Tekken 6. Seriously fuck that boss, it just pisses me off.
Few tips.
With whatever character you are using, learn their most powerful running attack. Master it.
Learn the quickest close range attack with good knockdown. Master it as well.
Stay as close as you can, and do a running attack whenever he gets any kind of distance. Dodge under his jumping attacks, and by god learn how to block him. Be the cheapest asshole you can be.

Crawmerax was OP because unless you had at least one other person with you or were playing as Lilith with a very specific weapon and skill build, he was just going to stomp your face in. Even then if you knew what you were doing it was like a 10-20 minute fight depending on if he felt like showing off his giant purple fuck-me-here lights or not. Did I mention he is always something like 7 levels higher than you and has redonkulous amounts of health per fuck-me-here light? Because that's a factor too. He's also the only reliable way to get access to the really, REALLY good end-game weapons.
Not to mention he constantly spawns enenies that are the same level as you.
Also if you die he regains all his health.
and at the highest level you can reach he's still 3 levels higher then you (which counts for a fair bit in borderlands)

i was a level 69 Lilith on my 4th playthrough of the game with this character (2 playthroughs with a friend and 2 solo) and it still took me half an hour.

Also the Dues Ex bosses, especially if, like me you where playing a pacifist-stealth character who had put no points into anything to do with fighting.
then comes along the forced boss fights.

The Pandemonium Warden in Final Fantasy: XI couldn't be beat by an entire guild of players after 18 hours.

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2008/08/pandemonium-war/

Though to be fair, after this happened Square-Enix put a 2-hour cap on all fights of this nature, saying there was a trick to beating it, but they're going to leave the community to figure it out. Now PM has been beaten multiple times in a reasonable amount of time :)
Yeah, my friend was actually one of the last people left alive when it was finally finished off for the first time.

As to the OT, uh, in recent memory, nu-13 from calamity trigger? She was pretty friggin' hard.

Also, Touhou bosses, obviously.

I remember people making a big deal about Sephiroth from kingdom hearts 2 a while back, but when I actually fought him I beat him on like the second or third try so that was a little underwhelming. I remember having a waaaaay harder time with the Ice Titan for whatever reason (I think that was KH1 though).

MUTHA FUCKIN DULLAHAN from Golden Sun: TLA, especially considering that it's only possible to get to him by finding every single Djini in the game.

I feel like Ninja Gaiden Black needs some mention. The Fiend version of Ryu is the biggest of assholes.

OP: If you're struggling with Black Knights I dread to think how you coped with the rest of the game.

Over powered Boss? For me so far its the Bridge Wyvern in Dark Souls. I know its optional (run under the bridge) but damn its neigh on impossible to kill at the point in the game when you meet it. Every other boss so far have a weakness that is exploitable, but not the Wyvern...it just breath fire breath fire breath fire breath fire breath fire breath fire...

In the end I just glitch death-ed him for some easy 10000 souls. What? Don't look at me like that, at least I tried 100 times first.

This man speaks truth. One blister and all characters later, I had the platinum. Just find the quickest one-two you use. Get close and don't let up. He will rarely get a hit in. Mostly use punches except for Hworang, his kicks do well.

Shao Kahn from Mortal Kombat.

Good god is he obnoxiously cheap.

This guy's problem was he kept going for the bicycle kick. I preferred the move where Lui Kang just launches himself jump kick style at Shao Khan's face. I never, ever, got in close to him, and always took advantage of his taunts.

Honestly I had a harder time beating him with Raiden, just because his moves weren't as good for that strategy.

Just want to say...fuck you Nu.
Score Attack in general from both Calamity trigger and Continuum Shift was just a giant pain in the ass.
If that didn't teach me to play Hazama well, nothing would have.

This guy is a ************ who will wreck your shit at the slightest mistake.

And he's a grasshopper. Dammit Square.
He wasn't all that bad. If you timed blocks right he rarely downs any of your party members.

Here is an OP boss for the ages. Holy fucking hell fuck this dumb overpowered *****. Unlimed Mu-12, Abyss Mode Level 999. Hardest boss I have ever beaten:
Video isn't the best example because the player is actually damn good, but trust me. FUCK MU!

90% she opens with a special that takes most characters down to 40% health. When I finally beat her she managed to pull off 5 distortion drives in 30 seconds.... fuck her.

Well, that much is easy. Any boss based purely on stats.
There's a bevy of infamous MMO bosses that claimed to be "unbeatable" precisely because of that fact. It's a game of numbers, not skill, and that's not especially interesting (though it certainly is unfair) because any asshole can program a no-win scenario.

Going based on bosses that are legitimately difficult to beat based on execution and not grind or blind luck...

Nightmare Mother, Megaman X6

She's fast. She's unpredictable. She's fucking huge. Her weak spots are rarely exposed and unless you're playing on the lowest difficulty she has an enormous fucking health bar.
For a boss that lacks an insta-kill attack, she works pretty damn hard to piss you off.

...Yet I love fighting her for the challenge. Crazy, I know. It's one of the few points in X6 where Zero isn't the end-all-be-all solution to a tough boss.

Boost Guardian in Metroid Prime: Echoes on expert mode.

You take constant damage from the atmosphere and if he hits you while boosting around like a pinball on crack... well, better make sure he doesn't.
Fuck that thing too. Up the arse. With a garden hose pumping raw sodium.
It's a battle against time that already pits you against a righteous asshole of a boss.
Most of the other boss battles in MP2 are very cool and interesting. That one is just fucking obnoxious since it's partly-luck driven (you cannot outrun the ball, and sometimes it just changes vectors completely)

The other killjoy in MP2 was the Spiderball Guardian. It just brings the game to a grinding halt for 20 minutes.

His flying facebutt works wonders because it hovers just above most of Khan's key moves (the low hammer especially).
It's a guaranteed hit if you catch him in a taunt.
