They were overrated yeah, but I think your being a little harsh dude.

Although if your one of all two of the people in the world who hasn't heard Unplugged, Youtube it now.
My post actually was very restrained for the seething I have for Nirvana. I've seen their Unplugged and owned the album at one point. Hey a band that's crappy in the studio and sounds crappy live at least has consistency. The only good songs on there are covers that didn't derail from their source one bit.

I know I've said that I wasn't a very big ACDC fan before, but I'll do it again. Just a lot of their stuff sounds the same to me.

Nirvana- I think that if Kirk Cobane never killed himself than they would have been forgotten.
Pink Floyd-I understand that they're music is "experimental and expressive" but I still think it sounds boring, repetitive, and is way too long.

Agreed. It's not that I hate them, in fact, they are pretty damn good. But they have no right ot be on the level of "OMFG WTFBBQ-SAUCE!!!!!" just... meh... simple structure, british, fun melodies... but nothing all that AMAZING to me... if I did drugs maybe? but not sober :p

I'm not familiar with music of that era, but from what I can see (and I could just be blowing out my ass on this one) but The Beatles seemed to have been a HUGE jump up in sheer color and difference from what was the norm then. But I'm not familiar with the era. So I could be wrong.

But, being great for the time often leaves you in the past down the road. And by today's standards they're not "the best" by any means.

Nickleback. A mediocre at best band that BSd its way into being the highest selling band of the decade (1999-2009 or something like that). I'm from Alberta (their home province) and even hear the amount of crap given about them is very low. Which is hillarious, because other than them, Albertans seem to be crazy about Albertan talent. Even if it is 90% country.

Nivana. Even though I like them, they wernt "e best band of the decade" or anything like that. The only reason Cobain is called a "symbol" is because he didn't care. Wooo. You don't care. Good for you. He just seems like one of those loner teams who never grew up.

U2. I'm seeing them in June, and I'm excited. But eyre not even in my top 10-15 bands/artists. And that's in the limited scope of MY musical library. Overal they can't be a top of the mountain band.

I guess punk bands (or whatever they're called) like Greenday also come to mind. They're decent enough. But I'm nit really hearing any Special songs from them. Just radio friendly songs getting churned out

I agree. In fact, when they got huge after Kurt Cobain's death, I despised them. I used to like them somewhat until all those newly acquired fans who sprung up due to his suicide, decided to shove all this love for the band down everyones throat and proclaim them to be the best band, the most influential band, blah blah blah. Nope people, you're wrong. They were slightly less then okay and had very limited musical talent. Cobain knew three chords and their drummer had more talent in his big toe than the rest of the band combined which I guess would just be the yet mentioned shitty bassist Chris Novoselic and the super emo lead singer.
Being a fan of Nirvana (even before his death) I actually agree with this. I hate it when someone in a band dies and then people who previously didn't care about the band all of a sudden become the biggest fans. It annoys me to no extent.

And I also agree that no one cares about Novoselic, but Kurt is really good especially in this song
but yeah, Dave Grohl had more talent than either Novoselic or Kurt combined

I agree completely.
I will also add U2, Nirvana, Radiohead, Metallica, Nickelback, and the Rolling Stones.
agreed on all of them. they all have their strongpoints, and a few of those bands have some songs that i like, but people seem to have this idea that you MUST like them.

the beatles and metallica especially. it seems like people like the beatles, even when they usually listen to entirely different music genres. its like they have some kind of responsibility to like the beatles, and for everyone else to as well.

and everyone wears metallica shirts. personally, i cant stand the vocals

What bothers me about Metallica is that they purposely mix their songs to sound sloppy.

And that's sort of my berserk button right there.

FUN FACT!!! Cobain was never even considered to be on the cover of Guitar World magazine until after he died

OT: did everyone forget about a little band called Fallout Boy or worse yet their friends Panic at the disco (those fuckers didnt even have to pay their dues to get famous)

Definetely U2. Songs are glorified pop-rock, with less than intelligent lyrics.

To anyone who has seen "It Might Get Loud", how much does U2's guitarist 'The Edge' (Douchebag name) just look way out of his depth jamming with Jack White and Jimmy Page.

I actually kinda liked Panic at the Disco, before they got artsy for the sake of looking artsy. I have no idea if they wrote any of their songs, but the lyrics were intelligent, catchy and although the songs were often pretty similar I couldnt help but enjoy them.

At least I know I'm not the only Albertan on here. A few of their songs I like, but more for the lyrics than anything else... but I think they're overrated. I don't get why everyone thinks they're so great when I think they're just okay. :/

DragonForce is... severely overrated. I've heard from some people that apparently they suck live, which detracts from the fact that they're supposed to be musicians and should sound good live, especially if you're paying a large chunk of change to see them do that. Oddly enough, they remind me of Versailles though, whenever I hear them I always think of Versailles. Which is weird, because Versailles are amazing live.

Oh. The Jonas Brothers. *shudders*

Nirvana- would have been long forgotten if Kurt Cobain had just staggered off into a drug induced stupor instead of offing himself

I'm shocked I haven't seen this band listed yet.

Creed. They have some okay songs, but they just aren't really that good.
